Hi,

Been posting on another forum but seems to be more activity on this one so thought I would join up and re-ask a question I previously posted......

Has anyone been able to do a comparison between the Bose system in the C7 and the B&O Premium (not advanced) system in the C8?

I am happy with the Bose level of quality I have in the C7 but was less than impressed by the standard system I tried in a C8 demo, so wondering if I should option the B&O.

Opinions would be appreciated.

Not much help, I went from C7 standard audio to C8 standard audio, but I'm more than happy with it.
Cheers,
Dave

I have the B&O system, but I can't really compare it to anything other than the B&O system I had in my A4, and I'm not sure that is what you are looking for. It's good, I am glad I chose it, but it is difficult to make comment as we have no real common frame of reference.

Maybe contact your dealer and if they haven't got one, ask them to get a demo car that has it fitted so you can get a direct comparison? You can then go in with a memory card and try out the exact same music. If you do that, make sure you get the demo in the same body shape (saloon/avant), that you are looking to buy, as the bass will be very different if you compare one with the other.

Good call, you wouldn't buy an expensive audio system for your home without auditioning it first, a car should be no different.

I think to a degree you have answered your own question. If you had the upgraded stereo before then I would spec the B&O.

Valid points all well made (and of course common sense) I shall go and test at the dealer. Will let you guys know. Cheers.

Thanksfor all your replies, will book the car in next week. on another note has any one have the bang Olsen sound system upgrade, my oldAudi S3 has Bose system whichsounds a lot better than the standard Audisound systemfitted to the my A6.
I thought that the Audi sound system fitted was actually made for Audi by Bose... I read it somewhere
, maybe I am wrong.
Also I red that the speakers take a while to bed in on the Audi sound system.
A friend of mine has the bang Olsen system in his q5 and it sounds excellent, you would of thought Audi would fit a decent system in a car that costs over £40000.
My father has a Fiat Panda easy that is 2 years old and thesound in that car is miles better than the A6 and £30000 cheaper !!

I had a 2016 A7 with the Bose system in and always found it lacking in bass but now I have a new A7 with the B&O system it loads better to the point of having to turn the bass down for some tracks. Never got on with Bose as found it lacked a full sound.

When I compared the bass from my A4 avant with a friends A5, there was considerably more bass with the A5. The boot acts as a better sound box, hence why the bass is deeper. I think also the bass/sub drivers might be different; I believe the avant has a coiled horn style sub in the spare wheel well, which is different from the A5. That said, the A5 may be the same - I didn't physically get to check the A5, I just asked the owner to check it out and she said there was nothing in the spare wheel well except the wheel!

I’ve got a 40TDI S-Line with the B&O tech pack. It’s great and here’s my story;

Had an A4 2010 with B&O, superb. Went A6 2012 standard sound and was ok ish but nowhere near the A4. Went A6 Bose, great and back to booming sound that was superb. Went A4 2017 with standard sound and it was rubbish, no matter how I set it up - I actually began to hate the car and regretted it massively telling myself that I should never have ditched my beloved A6. Bit the bullet from the wife and got the new A6 2018 in November, with the B&O and....wow, I’m back to what I missed out on with previous models and it was worth every penny of an upgrade for me. I can’t fault the B&O sound in any way and I personally think it is very good. I like my music and sometimes silly loud when stuck on the motorway on my daily commute home. I’ll listen to anything from classical to pop and the sound is outstanding full stop, at all levels. The bass is very good - I’ve got it turned down a bit so the mirrors remain where they should be. Something tells me based on my all too frequent car changes that I wouldn’t have been as happy as I am today. I had a new 2016 Golf GTI for a few weeks before it shook me to death during my mid life crisis, which also had the upgraded sound package and when I jumped back into the A6 Bose, it blew me away. The B&O is better than the Bose in my opinion, but neither are shabby. I simply couldnt go back to standard and won’t be making that mistake ever again.

Great to hear the comparisons between the difference audio systems. Did you get B&O on it's own, or as part of the comfort & sound pack on the C8?

Hi Dave W - yes, part of the comfort & sound or tech pack.... one of them at least. It’s not the silly cost one with pop up speakers (god knows why anyone would go for that) and it’s superb as far as I am concerned. I think the Bose (from memory) had a few more settings you could tweak, but no complaints from me. I was happy with the Bose also, and compared to the standard system there is a lot of difference. I mainly listen to an SD card and the quality difference is more noticeable there. I personally think that the B&O is better on radio stations than Bose was. Each to their own of course.
