Cheers Ras, yes moved home and just about settled now. Unfortunately there is no garage here, or off street parking so the car is still back in Glasgow in a better location meaning less time to work on it now! Boo!

Cracking project pal, looks a totally different car than when you started!

The bit thats caught my eye that I want to ask you about is the front badge you sprayed with halfords paint!

Ive got a B6 S4 with a blackout model front grill with a black badge I sprayed myself which has a few stone chips after 2 years or so and fancy a change, so....my questions :)

Did you put a laquer over the aluminium paint?

How has it lasted over time?

How many layers of primer etc?

Anything else you think i may need to know?

Help & advice would be much appreciated as the matt look would tie in nicely with my mirrors and window surrounds and ive never seen it done before on a B6.

Cheers

How has it lasted over time? TBH, car is a project, doesn't get used at the minute, but a couple of others have done it on their cars that drive them daily and had no issues i know off!

How many layers of primer etc? Its all in the prep, take the most time here, sand every bit of the rings, clean and/or degrease them, then 2 coats of primer and 2-3 coats of paint.

Anything else you think i may need to know? Dont be impatient to see the final result, taking time in prep will make a better job and last longer.

Wow, 6 months since i last done this!!!

Anyway, time for a quick update. Good news is i have the funds again to be working on the car and collecting bits etc, bad news is im working abroad for the time being, so dont have time to do anything with the car.

So far.....

-New brakes being collected, of Porsche variety soon. Rear upgrade to suit.
-Another new set of wheels have been added to the collection
-Recaros are ready to be fitted
-Supercharger ready to be fitted once cleaned etc, decided on a mapper to use
-Interior headliner and extras will be changed to the dark type(Cheers Kev)
-RS4 bumper will be sorted or another sourced and fitted
-New header tank and silicone pipe to clean up under bonnet
And other bits n pieces here and there.

Due to the fact i only get around 20days leave every 3 months to be home, i dont get a chance to do anything really, but i might try sneak away the next time im back to make a move on some things, need to push it on now. Will add pics of things whenever that happens! :search:

Amazing transformation!

Looking forward to seing it completed, even though we all know a car is never complete.....

Mark is up near your way.....Well, scotland.
Can he do it?

I thought you had bigger brakes already?

EDIT: This bloke View Profile: Brodster - Audi-Sport.net

Im not sure Scott, didnt speak to him. Its needing a bit of time spent on it cos its the Supercharger so not a straight forward map and the list of people i asked that turned it down due to it being a real job on the B5, left me with only a couple of choices so ive got somebody in mind now anyway.

Na, never done the brakes yet, you shamed me into doing it cos my new wheels would show them being too weedy! Bully and peer pressure, thats what i told the mrs!!! :moa:

I'd happly take the blame for it if you had some semi big brakes that I could take in payment of the blaming.
But since you don't, if she asks me any thing about it, I will deny all knowledge.

Ive got some nice floral pattern plates that i dont need, they measure around 254mm, and a lot of high performance Audi's are now using these "ceramic" brakes at silly prices, for you....free mate! :icon_thumright:

cant wait to see more on hthis thread fairplay mate n congrats with it so far

Sorry for lack of updates lads, no new news on it unfortunately but there is now a possibility i will consider letting the car go, keep an eye on the ads soon or send me a PM to let me know if you are interested in this car, loads of spares inc the Eaton Supercharger kit, wheels, one off Recaro's etc.

Kept me busy for an hour, great read this one, real looker too :)

Well this is a blast from the past, seems a bit quiet around here lately

So to anybody asking, yes i still have the car, but unfortunately life took over and it has been neglected slightly shall we say, still sitting in the same position it was when i left it around 2012!!! :culpability:

I have now got a full VAG stable for first time in my life, with a 2013 VW CC GT for daily duties and last year i took the plunge and picked up an MTM tuned C5 RS6 for the experience. Even after all that, the A4 has always been in the back of my mind, never really forgotten

So, im currently looking at buying a new house with a good sized double garage, hopefully hearing some good news today to take that forward. This will allow me somewhere to get all my cars in same place finally, so the plan will be to get the A4 recovered back to the new place once i have it bought (fingers crossed) where i can assess the toll of the last few years sitting doing nothing, it needs a GOOD clean and obviously there will be the service side, engine oil, coolant etc, needed a new battery from memory and brakes will need looking over. All in all, if i get the house im after then this will be back in build, with maybe a few different outcomes, i havent decided yet, thoughts have been track car, if paint is damaged, or clean up and weekend/show car still, or just some new direction i havent thought of yet regarding supercharger etc.

One thing that has been playing on my mind though, as much as id like to complete the build with the original planned supercharger install, somebody mentioned to me one time about getting a VR6 engine in it, and turbo it, this now interests me as it will be a continuing long build as before, but plan would be complete as is with the supercharger as before, then look into buying a VR engine and whilst getting to enjoy the car for now (once i finish first build) then i can start collecting parts and info on the VR side and build the engine up over time in the garage for a future upgrade that way.

Does anybody have any info on the VR6 engine route, any links etc? Do they drop straight in on same mounts? Which gearbox would be needed? Will it need standalone software? Etc Any links to any recent builds would be helpful preffereably in the UK and places to source parts etc. Is it really worth it in comparison with the supercharger that i have already as in will it be worth the extra cost for power??? I have seen stage 1 turbo kits for VR are aound 5K and thats without even doing the engine swap yet, all for around 350bhp

I will update with pics of the new fleet, the dirty one and ongoing changes as they happen, currently working overseas again so wont be for another couple months, but hopefully i can get the Audi back on track and finished how it should be, in one form or another :rockwoot:
