Hi I have a 2009 A3 1.8 TFSI and I’m thinking of getting it remapped sometime this month, I plan on getting some drilled and grooved Brembo discs and pads and good set of tyres and some upgraded brake lines and good air filter etc in the next couple of month also, but I’m just wondering would the car be able to handle the remap as it sits now in stock form or am I best to do the brakes tyres etc first ?

It will be fine in stock form. Where are you getting it mapped? Depending on existing mods you’ll likely go from 160hp to 185hp, maybe closer to 200 if you have an intake and exhaust.

You’re better off doing the filter before you get the car mapped, so the map can account for the increased air. For the 1.8 the RamAir is the only option I could find with my 1.8. Some of the intakes for the 2.0 may fit however.

Brakes wise, grooved will be fine, drilled are prone to cracking over time but I understand if you’re after the cool factor.

Tyres, what do you have on now? There’s lots of active posts about tyres going at the mo but fwiw I’m happy on Michelin PS4. On my previous 1.8 I ran Avon ZV7 which were fine for a budget.

Stage 1 you're prob looking at gains of around +50bhp and + 70Nm. Although APR and Revo advertise more than this. From what I've read online the 160ps 1.8 tfsi actually dynos around 175-180bhp just stock. All sorts of factors to consider though with that. And the 1.8 shares the same internals as the Mk6 golf gti so believe any upgrades for that will also fit our engines.
