hi, anyone have this issue as well?

Dash light segments are flickering , gets annoying!
Primerally the top right part of Rev counter and sometimes a bit on speedo and fuel gauge.
Seems to happen less on motorway , longer drives . Seems like a loose connection .

Where would look to see if a connector is seated properly , are these things accessible ?

Happened to the A4 B8 1.8T I bought for my Mrs and returned due to this being one of the problems. For me the whole instrument cluster was replaced. There are places who'd fix it for you for between £200-£300 but they give a maximum of 3-6 months warranty. They fix it by replacing the Leds behind the cluster.

A few threads (including mine) FYI.

Also, if you'd like I can send you in the morning the part number along with prices I was quoted by TPS and stealership.

Apologies for the late reply buddy. The part number I was given by TPS and confirmed by Audi was:

8K0 920 950 GX. The price quoted was £1,106 Inc VAT. I was also told that I'll get £186.20 back for my old cluster.

Great thanks , not the cheapest tho for a replacement unit.

I have found these guys tho
http://www.clusterrepairsuk.co.uk/repair/model/audi-a4-b8-instrument-cluster-repair-service
They said it’s a transistor on circuit board that fails and gives too much voltage to leds and they start to fail
Quoted £109 for an ‘illumination upgrade ‘ appears to be leds replaced & circuit board repaired with new ones , which are brighter and a soft fade in on off .
Definitely appears worth it.
You take your cluster out and send to them , and takes 2-3 days.

Cluster seems pretty straightforward to take out , advised being careful that trim doesn’t remove the air vents as well when removing.
And remove negative terminal from battery beforehand, make sure car has sat for 15mins to power down completely , then it never knows it’s had cluster in and out. No need to recode.

Cluster removal , shows 3 bolts / hex’s to remove it . 2 top either side and one centre below

Seems really good price. I bought the car approved used and the cluster was replaced for me without any charge by the dealership. I returned the car after a few weeks as it developed too many other issues after that. It was Audi for 5 out of 8 weeks that I had owned it with the last one being the oil consumption issue that 1.8t and 2.0t are notorious for.

Hi all! We are a company called Cartronix based in Hampshire who actually repair these clusters with a next day turn around by post or a drop in service where we can also remove and refit the cluster from the car. Back lighting issues are really common on these clusters as well as the LCD display going blank and these are both issues we can help with.

We fully test the cluster before and after the repair and also give you a lifetime warranty with our work!

Don't hesitate to get in contact for more info, if you would like your cluster repaired we will also give you a £10 discount! Just quote the code #AUDISPORT10

What happens if you don't fix the problem?
