Is it a common problem for the door mechanisms to "loosen"?

When I bought my S3 the driver's door wouldn't close properly if you shut it a bit too hard, it would just bounce on the second latch. Had my boss (experienced panel beater) have a look at it and he couldn't see anything wrong with the alignment of the door or latch... Eventually got hold of another (second hand) mechanism, replaced it and it closed perfectly.
Fast forward a few months to now and it's starting to do it again. Passenger door is doing the same now too, as well as popping open while driving... Which is starting to **** me off...
Drowning them in WD40 or duck oil seems to temporarily fix the issue, but I'd rather find a more permanent solution...
Have tried to get new ones from TPS, but was told they couldn't get hold of them anymore...
Is there a known fix for them? Or is it just going to be a case of keeping them lubed?

there is another thread on this topic active... common that the 3 door variants of this car a3/s3 suffer this problem as they have a very heavy door.
