Is there a decent aftermarket exhaust in production for the 3.0tdi? I love the car but would like to have a slightly more "S4 esque" exhaust sound rather than the current quiet version.

You could remove the DPF Don’t think there are many Tdi exhausts out there not sure I’ve heard of one. Even if their is one Sorry to say it will never sound like an S4 Due to you having a diesel. Alternatively you could just buy an S4 ;)

I think you'll need to contact the aftermarket exhaust suppliers directly, such as AWE or Milltek. However if you are tight with the road tax don't go looking for aftermarket exhausts.
Don't go with removing the dpf either, it will mean a mot failure and whilst it isn't illegal to remove one it is illegal to drive a vehicle without it if one is fitted.

The best thing to do is find a custom exhaust place that can do some work for you. Fit an exhaust cut out in the standard system.
The turbo DPF and cat all do a good job of supressing exhaust noise. Of course you can't do anything about the turbo and these days you don't really want to remove the DPF /cat but you can by pass the exhaust silencers.
I have one on my car and have had it fitted for several years now and it's still working fine. Operates via a small remote control. Valve will open fully or close fully off the remote.
I fitted this myself, a custom exhaust place shouldn't cost a lot to fit it. You can have quiet when the family is in the car or you just want it quiet. Press the button and you can enjoy a louder car.

I've already had a response from Miltek, and there's no signs of a positive action there however "If I already have the resonators in place, they will connect them". Wtf does a resonator look like??

I believe they are the boxes just before the rear axle. Over in AudiWorld forum I think I have seen some pictures. I will have a look later...

A resonator when applied to an exhaust is usually thought of as a particular kind of silencer usually loacted in the middle part of the system. This acts as an expansion chamber and cancels out exhaust noise / drone.
In your case the diesels don't usually have a resonator. They do have a system of "speakers" in the rear boxes that produce electronically exhaust noise. I suspect this is what they are referring too.

Fair enough mate But the S4 isn’t as thirsty as you might think on the commute to work in the morning I can comfortably achieve 32 Mpg And on longer motorway journeys It ranges from 35-43 Mpg. Quite efficient these new petrols.

It is as thirsty as you might think, if you use all those glorious revs.....
