Lowering springs

Hi guys,

Wondering what setups you guys have for lowering your suspension and where you've got it done. I've been in contact with a company called motech who usually use eibach and apparently eibach don't have any for the b9.

Any help would be appreciated

Eibach definitely do have springs for the 2.0T that also fit the S4 as I have them on my car.

Part number for these is E10-15-023-07-22 and E10-15-023-02-22 for the Avant and saloon respectively.

There's also definitely an adjustable spring set but I can't remember if it's KW or H&R...

Edit: The above part numbers are for the Pro Kit which is the higher ride height version, there's also a Sportline kit which sits lower and that also has options for our cars as I know people who have them fitted as well, I just don't know the part numbers I'm afraid.

Cheers mate much appreciated I'll email them again don't understand why they wouldn't know if there was a kit for the b9, where did you get yours fitted if I could know? If it's close by me I might just go there.

I don't know but I think it might have something to do with the springs not being TUV approved or something? But then, they're clearly selling them so I don't know what's going on...

I'm all the way up in Aberdeen so I doubt you'll be nearby, but I essentially got a homer from one of the guys in the local Audi group. I think that it should be about 2-3 hours labour max from someone that knows what they're doing. And I'd recommend budgeting for an alignment as sometimes these cars seem to get badly thrown out when the springs are fitted if people have to take all the linkages apart. :)

So the guys got back to me, the kit costs around 240 for -30mm and 260 something for -45mm. But they are charging 260 for fitting. Does this sound about right or Am I being mugged off.

If anyone knows of any good garages that fit around the South East area please let me know...

I got mine from GNJ Motorsport and they weren't that much! I really don't know about the fitting cost to be honest because I don't know their hourly rate, but it sounds like quite a lot to me. Unless it includes alignment in which case I'd definitely take it!

Also I'm sure someone else will come along with an idea of price they paid.

Also what would be best -30mm drop or -45mm. I'm going to be putting some ispiri ffr1 alloys on the car after I've got it lowered.

I used AMD in Thurrock to fit some Eibach pro springs to my A3 back in 2008. Cant remember how much I was charged but it did include laser alignment. They have a good rep.

I don't have a link I'm afraid, just email them and they'll be able to get you a price fairly quickly I'd imagine. If I remember rightly they were about £205 delivered but don't quote me on that!

I went for the 30mm drop because mine is a daily and there are big speed bumps near me and I didn't want to scrape all the time. I think that it leaves a fairly good arch gap of 20mm or so on the front and a little less on the back which was perfect for me.

Iv got a brand new set of eibachs same as daggerit has fitted for sale. Decided am not fitting to mine. If your interested let me know. Can post or meet you if not a million miles away.
 
These will definitely fit my a4 b9? Don't want to buy them and they not fit! I'm in Luton mate how far are you?

Just noticed this I’m central Scotland so postage it is. Haha.
 
The set I got were for the avant not sure what the difference is but may be different spring poundage for the rear of your a saloon

E10-15-023-02-22
I have that set conflicting info as I may have bought the saloon ones in error.

Done load digging, E10-15-023-02-22 has been fitted to both saloon and avants s4 and otherwise the saloons are over in America.

Hope that helps some guys out

That's what I have on mine, versus the Avant labelled version with the 07 part number. Sits a little low at the back but it's always a bit lower at the back from stock so I'm not worried. I've checked with Eibach to see if there's a massive spring rate difference between the two kits just in case and hopefully I should have an answer in the next couple days.

I've gone with rtech in st albans as they were the cheapest for fitting and the springs. Can't wait for them to be fitted and the wheels!

I found this and thought it worth posting, particularly disconnecting the wiring on top of the front strut towers. Because, if one attempts to contact their local Audi dealer, probably end up with the same blank response like my installer, who contacted 2 dealers. Sort of like it was in stereo!!
Note there is not any wiring to the rears.

Thinking - if 'Dynamic' mode only tightens up the front, then the rear must remain soft, so does that induce understeer? So is Comfort mode neutral?

Are you certain there's no adaptive aspect to the rears? You wouldn't need to touch them to change the rear springs because they're separate from the damper on the rear, unlike the fronts? Is that maybe what's meant?

I think I mentioned before that I was still looking for a left-handed screwdriver.
I will look Wednesday when it's in for Eibach Rnd II.

Success!!! One plug came out easy but the other must have been a female, extremely tempermental.:wink new:
At the moment the 7-22's are sitting a little higher at the rear. Hopefully that will settle, and may well even up with the normal 2 people (mit handbag, of course), as we sit well back, so some rear bias.
Yesterday drove down to the Gold Coast where most of the highway is concrete, not bitumen, with those awful thump, thump joins. The Eibachs took those joins much better than the OEM's. Couldn't do any spirited driving due to Easter Thursday traffic, rain continually bucketing down and triple licence demerit points holiday period. Your Commonwealth Games team will feel right at home. Must have brought it with you.

Of course, could not see the 'Drive Select' wiring to the rear struts as they are mounted on the top of the strut tower. To see them one would have to remove the interior trim, so you are probably very well right.

Awesome to hear! You should pop up some photos when you get some time so I can compare the rear ride height to my springs. :)

I came across this. A high consensus of opinions noted with the brace fitted, a dramatic improvement in crosswinds and less body flex. Must admit, I just shook my head when I first saw the OEM brace. When we had the Subie, it came fitted with a STi top strut brace, but added a STi lower brace. Definitely felt the whole wagon was tauter.
'034' have their own B9 S4 development vehicle, and are pretty serious with upgrades.

Got the wheels and car lowered over the past few days. Had to get spacers for it aswell. I think it looks good!

What size wheels and tyre profile?
30mm might just be the one. Perfectly spaced too.

How does the ride to compare to before it was lowered? Wondering about doing the same thing myself....
 
The ride was fine! Changed to 20" wheels was not bad imo. I have my eibach springs for sale if you want them cheap and spacers
