Sorry more questions!!

I have had a bit of an overheating issue and and when aircon is on the car can drop revs with a bit of a bite.

I have taken the fuse box apart on top of the battery and cleaned it through and checked fuses. No change.

Got it upto temp and the large radiator fan does sometimes does try to spin but not successful, but is loose to spin by hand.

The aircon fan is really stiff, can spin by hand with difficulty and makes a plastic scrapping noise. its also moving all over the place.

Am i in need of replacing both fans and is there a whole kit available inc the fans and the housings? cant seem to find one.

Cheers in advance.

Are you on Facebook mate. I have saw 3 or 4 radiator fans and aircon fans. There is also a few breakers which will help.you out.

I’m not on FB mate. Ideally after new. I can just get the fans to be honest.

With aircon switched on both fans will spin at low speed...

There is a fan switch in the radiator which controls when fans should kick in to prevent over heating...

If non of the fans come on with aircon is on (remember though that aircon is only enabled once ambient temp is over 5deg as seen in the DIS) then that is normally an issue with the fuses on top of the battery, more specifically the fuse holder for the 30amp blade fuses as corrosion causes increased current load to melt things up there resulting in bad or no connection for the fan power

Failing that if can also be the fans themselves... I have seen a fair few cars where the fans just needed replacing and fairly sure Bill just gets them from GSF who frequently do 60% off codes so worth looking into that... sounds like the big fan is working ok but the small fan is goosed so just replace that one initially

As for your RPM drop that could just be an air leak...

Scan for fault codes too... might help diagnose the RPM issue

The big fan tries to spin but doesn't have the guts. small fan is screwed but unsure if the cowling or the fan.

The drop in revs is like something trying to engage not like a boost leak.

All needs to come apart and need to have a look.

Unplugging the e16 fuse should force both fans to spin, but your fans sound like they have a physical issue. My large fan doesn't work so aircon is rubbish unless the car is moving. I think they both need to be replaced together.

Thanks I’ll give that a go and see what happens. The small fan is definitely ******** the big one just gave up on life.
