Went in to my dealer today (west London Audi) for a service and enquired about this new information about s cars going diesel.
He said this was going to go forward back in March 2018 but as it stands this hasn't been mentioned again and he knows nothing further.
It could be that Audi reintroduce sporty diesels but no other information on whether they'll scrap the current petrols.
Also the sq7 is apparently on the way out..

Audi do keep their info pretty well hidden to be fair.
The SQ7 is far more desirable to me than the weird Q8. Cheers for the update

What a shame as I saw / heard one t'other day and it was epic!
TX.
Wish they used that engine in the a7 but can only hope.. Lol
ABT exhaust? Haha. Fake pipes?

Real exhausts. Fake badges...

Sat in an a6/a7 today and the interior layout is so clean! Very high quality made my a4 feel old inside.
for some reason I really don't like the interior of the new A6/A7 - too glossy, too touchscreeny for my liking. Feels a bit tacky to my taste. And those fake exhaust pipes? OMG!
I much prefer physical buttons and switches. Love the interior of my A4 and also loved my previous A3's with those turbine-styled air vents that made those satisfying 'clicks' when you turn them
I don't know may be I'm just old-fashioned, but the interior of the new A6 is currently preventing me of considering it as my next car. No offense to A6/A7 owners. The exteriors look awesome though!
Im definitely not a fan of the touch screens either, I just meant the actual layout is super clean and the feel I got was of high quality. (Audi showroom appeal definently helps)
Same here, I had an a3 before my a4 and loved the ac vents especially the way they circulated air compared to the a4.
I think the interior of the 8v A3 is simply outstanding. It still outclasses many of the other 'bigger' cars. It was the interior of my A3 that made me an Audi fan in the first instance
I haven't sat inside a new A-class yet but am now itching to see it. I did notice that they've tried to emulate the A3 this time round, especially the front daytime running lights looked suspiciously like those of A3..Agreed. Same reason I also brought an Audi which was my first ever Audi and first ever car! Haha
The interior back then in 2013 did outclass those above it easily.
I recently sat in a new a class though and that has definently improved over the old one. The old a class interior was a joke.
The new one however felt as solid as the a3 and a lot more futuristic.
Lets see what Audi do for the new a3!
especially the front daytime running lights looked suspiciously like those of A3..
Compared to the A4 the A3 looks downmarket, the A4's interior, on the other hand, is also down market to the A6. The A3 is overdue a complete makeover this year as will the interior of the A4..

See it in the flesh. The interior lights I felt almost put my a4s interior blue lighting to shame! Was actually surprised the quality of the interior felt solid. Not something I'd have said in the past about Mercedes interiors.
The current c class and last gen e class had terrible feeling interiors. But this new a class feels Audi like solid.
I have the virtual dash and the wife has analogue on her old(er) S3; whenever I get in her car it drives me mad having to look left then right (or is it right vs left!) for revs vs speed!I agree, the A6's interior is really nice. It's just I can't get past all the touchscreens (they feel excessive to me) and the lack of good old physical buttons. I'm sure it's just down to different tastes; I'm probably just old-fashioned when it comes to these things. I never liked the virtual cockpit either. Much prefer the physical, real dials

Interesting! I still can't see it happening though. I'll check with my dealer as well.Guys just got informed by a dealer that their internal system is now showing the S4/S5 as having 3.0tdi v6 as opposed to the petrol units.

So, potential diesel S4, no V8 in the RS4, exhausts with no drama, dual touchscreens without ergonomic switches. I'm starting to feel this will be my last Audi for a while.
And the last time I was at a BMW garage, I heard 3 separate 430i's pull away and thought 'wow what a great noise'...they weren't even M4s.
Just thinking out loud...
Simple mate. Used market. Ya don't need the latest tech and interior updates in order to enjoy the thrill and drama of a great engine.
But I massively see your point. Shouldn't have to go elsewhere should ya? AMG?

Coupe of SQ7s near me, they don't sound like tractors, they sound like something much bigger, like a coach....

You might be right - I always used to go for the '2 year approved used' type of car before I got the S4, no reason I can't go back to that.
No regrets changing to the RS4 then?
Prove screenshot haha.

So having spoke to Cheshire Oaks Audi they have confirmed this rumour. There has been no official announcement but it is common knowledge.
So, it does seem very likely this is the case. If so I won't be having another Audi I'll be in a 340 Beemer.
