Hi folks, the time has come for me to sell my beloved s3 due to needing the cash for a house move. It's fully loaded white 3 door from 2014 with only 24k miles, so low millage in comparison to similar on autotrader, hence i'm not really sure on how much it's worth.

I can't really be doing with the hassle of selling myself on autotrader, anyone know of any reputable companies that buy S3? I'm thinking WBAC are probably going to try and rip me off?

Try using Tootle to sell to a dealer, wont usually get full private sale price but will usually beat WBAC etc and trade in prices.

cheers dude, i'll look into that.

Also have to say it's been a pleasure posting in this here forum. Some very knowledgeable and friendly folks. Cheers!

I sold mine recently through the forum, I could probably have got a little more for it but crucially it sold in a couple of days which made my next purchase easier.
I think the main thing is to research the market and price your car accordingly.
A well spec'd car will not necessary command a higher premium but will make it much easier to sell.
The vast majority of used S3's are sold through dealers of some description so it is harder to sell private.
Make your car as attractive as you can as it has to stand out to make the phone ring

No way would I sell an S3 privately.

I'd be using the likes of Tootle, WBAC, Evans Halshaw or Motorway.co.uk

Will get a bit less than selling privately, but zero hassle or chance of some toerags nicking it!

I got £2.5k more than my p/x price for a quick easy sale. Take precautions and trust no one until you have the cash in the bank!

I sold mine to a sports car specialist, got about £1,500 more than Audi offered me. WBAC took the P.

I wouldn't fancy selling it privately as you don't know who turns up...or who doesn't turn up! but then turns up in the middle of the night after getting your address.

A few on here have sold vis Arnold Clark and say they didn't get knocked down on the quoted price: https://www.arnoldclark.com/sell/?g...R_LeLQag7gkpyx7lgVkaAoYQEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

Where in the country are you? I have a few other places to try if you are in the NW area.

cheers for the advice chaps. I put it on Tootle this afternoon and the phone has literally been off the hook with dealers wanting to buy it. I think I may have put it on too cheap to be honest!

3 door S3 would be popular with many, so you should t have any problems and by the sounds of it got lots of interest already. Good luck and hope move goes well mate

Just out of interest how much more is being offered on tootle compared to wbac or arny shark?

about a grand more. Not sure how much WBAC would try to knock off from the price they've offered either.

He doesn't want the hassle of selling on AT mate.

Yup, don't really want the hassle of AT to be honest.

It’s the tyre kickers I couldn’t be bothered with and the other day on the news a guy met up with a potential buyer and the crim drove the car away with a kid inside. Too many low life to risk it.

If you think about it logically you can screen potential tyre kickers via the phone/website its easy....but to be honest if you price it to sell and the Autotrader website will tell what your car is worth....then you'll sell no problems and it wont be private buyers that'll buy your car, it will be trade.............and also sell your car with good tread left on the tyres............then they wont need to kick...em........lol

Easier said then done. Just because someone sounds genuine on the phone doesn't mean they're a complete ******* tool once they turn up/don't turn up.

In the end I did as listers_socks suggested and put it on tootle.

Completely pain free experience, car bought by a performance car firm, bloke who came to pick it up did what he said he was gonna do, didn't try to haggle at all. came down for Glasgow and really knew his stuff, i'll certainly be considering his firm when buying my next car.

That's good news, I will be putting my M3 on there when I get firmed up dates for the S3 arriving. Haven't heard anyone have a bad word to say about it yet.

Good luck with the M3 sale. How was the M3 as a day to day car by the way? I hired a bog standard 3er a while back and was put off by the amount of tyre roar on the motorway.

It has to be the best car I have owned so far (previous cars inc 335d F30, E55 AMG, B6 S4, DC5 Type-R, WRX STi).

Day to day it has been great, I mean I average 24mpg but I never expected more. It takes kids to school, pets to vets and have been off on camping and other holidays with it. It is my daily and only car in family so has to do it all and it has and more. Still smile when I come back to it in car park or on drive in the morning, the only downsides I could find with it were the lack of roof racks for additional storage/bikes and fact it's 3yrs old in September and I want to get rid before warranty is up and further price drops.
