Not sure if it's just my imagination, not had the car long but when I am putting the foot down, more on colder starts the engine seems to be revving, but there doesnt seem to be equivalent pull to noise. Its an S3 saloon S-tronic with 10k miles.

Is this normal, am I imagining it? Is there any way to diagnose this?

Really not sure what you mean by "revving" if you put the foot down in mine you can hear the engine kick into life and get going.

I only have a 1.6 stronic but I find if I drive with a very light foot sometimes it can feel a bit like its revving more and staying in a lower gear. But if you put your foot down it moves! I think I overthink it’s thinking a lot of the time. Also, when cold overall engine noise is slightly more.. although I don’t ever boot it when cold.

It could also depend on what driving mode you are in!!!

Depends on the gear you are in. These dsg boxes have a habit going straight to 2nd so sometimes feel like when pulling away at junctions that the car just revs and moan and doesn’t really make huge progress. Worse in comfort or efficiency mode. Other automatics ive has does similar things.

The OP should speak to @jassyo06 he never has any problems with pulling, in fact it's been said many times on here that he's the biggest wa...r on the forums :D:p;)

Good job we can laugh :)

I would add as well since I’ve had it tuned to S1 it’s quite a bit better at selecting and sticking to it rather than downshifting.

Did you get a tcu tune? I’ve heard good things about a tcu tune especially ones from TVS in the Netherlands but not many dealers in the uk.

Ecu but it’s definitely changed how the gearbox reacts to throttle input. I can only guess because it thinks there is more power in that gear? Overall keeps the revs a lot lower instead of downshifting.

Sounds like problem you have is being covered in considerable detail on the Skoda forum, in particular the Karoq. It is also a known issue with the VW T-roc. Some VW owners have managed to reject and return the vehicles, whilst the Skoda owners have not been so lucky.

Not sure if you can open these links, but hopefully you can

Thanks all, I was going to put it in somewhere locally for a rolling road to see if its producing power and delivering as it should from the factory.

I should have added I'm typically in "Comfort" mode. The best was to describe it is if you've heard a clutch slipping in a manual car, however this is S-tronic and only 11k now on the clock. I wouldn't think it would matter what mode I was in, the car should pull while in gear, its as if the gears not fully engaged.

It could be a few inherent design traits you are experiencing in your S3.

Right after a cold start in the warm up phase, the ECU could be limiting torque until you get to a reasonable operating temperature. This protects the cold engine against high torque requests, as cold lubrication does not protect the engine components as compared to warm/hot.

The S-tronic has a tendency to hang onto 2nd gear even when you are nearly at a stop, only dropping to 1st upon a dead stop unless you are in S mode. Accelerating from very low speeds in 2nd gear results in the engine revving up to around 2000 and the S-tronic slipping the clutch. The acceleration feel is relatively poor in this scenario as compared to using 1st gear.

Thats the test if it’s warm from a dead stop does it shift as normal? If it’s just groggy and revving a bit more than normal I’d say that’s about how they all act... I think if it was actually slipping you would know and there would be codes in the dash.
