Really? Why?

I’ve always wanted one, say if someone lets me go and then they’re behind me i can get my passenger to type “thanks” or just have a play around with it

Typing to say something while driving surely is dangerous?

I'm not pointing any fingers, but it's not difficult to imagine a situation in which 'your passenger' might be tempted to type 'BACK OFF' for the benefit of someone between your *rse cheeks at 85 in the outside lane.

There's plenty of scope for something like that to go horribly wrong, and things going horribly wrong at speed on the motorway often result in collateral damage involving completely innocent parties.

I'm not suggesting you might do that yourself, but I don't think there's much doubt that a message which you think is a jolly good wheeze might be taken in entirely the wrong way by another road user who doesn't happen to share your sense of humour.

It's only my humble opinion, but I reckon the potential dangers far outweigh the comedy value.

I know I'm opening myself up to accusations of being a killjoy, but I really don't think it's the brightest of ideas.

If I'd had one when I was 17 (which is the only time/age I'd of had one) I know I'd have been in trouble, as I know what my mates were like....Think of the types of comments that come up on the Inbetweeners, they would have been scrolling across the back window!!! It only takes one mate to put up "POLICE BACK OFF" and you are in serious trouble.

Not saying that YOU are, but it only takes one of your mates to do it!

Ah, I missed the passenger part. I guess you’ve got enough willpower to resist typing by yourself should you find yourself alone in the car but feel the urge to send out a message?

Hmm good thought, i’d either not use it or just set preset messages that i can just press 1 button that I don’t have to reach for so somewhere on the centre consolePersonally I think it’s a great idea

One thing I've noticed is that the majority of this forum doesn't like to help if they don't like the idea.. Not everybody though. Don't expect many people apart from that one person above to help you out, the rest will just give you slack

Something like this might work

Mate I'm not wanting to put a downer on your idea, but! To say thanks you would then pick up a remote control and press a button...right? Would the police (if seen) not class this the same as picking up and looking at a mobile phone...as you are being distracted? yes it's for a split second, but is it really worth taking a chance of points/fine when a simple raise of your hand would do the same thing.

But to answer your OQ Use THIS LINK

Mrs Phutters would be over the seats and into the back to do that for free before you could say Jack Robinson.

She'll jump at any chance to recover her lost youth.
