Hit a pot hole yesterday (again) and another puncture on the Michelin I got fitted last month. This time I was 120 miles from home so had to get recovered!

Changing back to Pirelli’s as the Michelin’s are just no good! Car seems so weird and not right. Even when I turn the traction control it’s very like “kangarooie”. It’s like the quattro is not working in sync causing it to jerk/jump. It’s much worse in the wet and can happen just with a slow/steady pull off.

Can get the 255 30 19 RO2 Pirelli’s from black circles for £200 but does anyone know of anywhere still doing a BF deal or when I can get them cheaper?

Were you running staggered sized Michelins?

I run 245/35 Square Michelins and have no probs at all.

The stock Pirellis have nearly 3% rolling diameter difference, I would think that would have more issues than identical rolling diameters. And sure enough, my TC light used to be totally hypo on stock tires. Now its pretty good and ive even gone stage 1+.
 
LOL Your clearly driving way too fast or way too carelessley - its not bad luck you keep having flats. You can drive around the potholes lol

LOL stop jumping to conclusions. I was in a average speed camera zone so most definitely not speeding. You can’t drive round them if it’s on a unlit road ******* down with rain and you can’t see them

So annoying when it happens. They are nice wheels mind, who makes them?

I did the same on my 19" BBS SR wheels. Tyre ruined and (the tiniest) chunk out of the alloy.

Thankfully it's not too hard to claim. You have to put a freedom of information request in to see when that stretch of road was last inspected, if anyone has already reported the pothole and also how often their inspection schedule should check that road. If you can get some photo's with a decent sized ruler next to the pothole and some photos of the overall area too, that'll be all the evidence you need. They'll also ask you how many miles the tire has done (to try and offer you a part payment due to it's use) but as you only just put it on, that shouldn't matter.

I don’t understand how you can do that to you wheel if its a slow average speed area. I don’t buy it was down to the road alone.

Unless you have dash cam video to slam in my face lol :)

I never said it was a slow average speed camera zone. I said I was not speeding. You go look for a huge pot hole and hit it at 60 mph and see what happens

That’s annoying! Sorry I didn’t post sooner.

Any way you can cancel your Blackcircles order? £40 is £40 at the end of the day isn’t it, although Camskill do charge £5 shipping I think.

Yes I’ve just done that. Yes they do but black circles also charge £12. I saved £39.18 so thanks @AudiNutta

Really, so must have x-ray eyes if able to spot potholes when it’s pouring down and roads are dark.
If you have never had an incident with a pothole you have been very lucky.

Back in April this year on the day I picked up my new FL RS3, I hit a pothole in a city centre, it bottomed out my front suspension (I have magnetronic) and tore a hole right through my front left sidewall. Only 40 miles on the clock, I was in tears at the roadside.
I could not avoid it unless swerving up onto the pavement or crossing over into oncoming traffic. I was only doing 25 mph at the time, it just appeared in front of me.
From a few people walking by told me the pothole had been there for nearly a year and to date it had wrecked quite a few cars even though the local council had been told many times to get it fixed.

So remember every time you get in your motor you never know when it will happen, quit making assumptions about forum members driving habits.

Sorry bud but I couldn't disagree more.

I've done 3 tyres and 2 wheels from pot holes and they've all been because they've either been full of water in the dark or had someone on coming with their headlights dazzling me and missed the pot hole.

I done a tyre in a 50mph average camera zone. Reason being I couldn’t move out the way due to cars on my right and the speed limit. Get caught speeding or lose a tire? I’ll take the money hit rather then the points. Bulged and had to be replaced.

I had 2 wrecked tyres this year, both on the same day!
On was just after a junction so possibly 50mph and the other in a town at 30mph.
The wheels were fine and I also had the insurance through Audi which paid back 300 quid.

Still annoying tho.. .
