Hi all :)

I’ve decided I want to map the S3...don’t get me wrong 300bhp is quick, I just don’t like the way in which Audi have created the map it’s to smooth. It’s a very quick car it just doesn’t feel quick. I like cars that give a large amount of torque early on so you get that real shove back in the seat feeling.

I’ve decided against tuning boxes (nothing wrong with them I’d just rather a remap).

So here’s the question there’s a reputable custom map company near to me but they only have a 2wd dyno...I have spoke to them reference the haldex/Quattro/4wd and they’ve said that the car has a 2wd dyno mode and it’s meant to be mapped in the 2wd drive mode. Is there any truth in this?

Should our cars be mapped on a 4wd dyno? Or is it perfectly safe/advisable to get a map on a 2wd drive dyno?

Thank you everyone, I look forward to the replies :)

Don’t see how you will dyno a haldex car on a 2wd properly as under power all wheels will spin? I am sure some of the experts will clarify

I been up to a stage 2 on my previous S3. If not done properly it can cause so many issues.

Only people I would go to is MRC or APR. MRC being the first choice

Yeah exactly what I’ve been thinking! The impression they gave though was there this ‘2wd dyno mode’ so unless there is some setting within in the ECU...( or they just unclip the haldex - I don’t know :( )

There is a dyno mode that switches off the haldex and makes it spin only the front
The other method was to pull the fuse out the haldex and does the same thing

Fine to run a Haldex car on a 2 wheel dyno. A lot of tuners run haldex cars FWD only especially on higher power builds as the haldex shuffles power around and this causes issues with the dyno. Badger 5 only has a 2WD dyno. When I had my TT mapped at Unicorn it was run FWD only and Rick has a 4WD dyno.
Where abouts in the country are you?
