hi guys

Cars booked in with AET for early January for a mapping session on their rolling road.

Just a quick question as to whether I’ll need anything else to hit the 400 mark, I keep seeing some people saying injectors are needed and others saying they aren’t and a few other things too so I thought I’d ask what some of you are running?

2010 s3 sportback
3” decat turbo -back custom exhaust
AET Ko4 hybrid turbo with turbosmart actuator
Forge FMIC
Revo CAI
Autotech HPFP
TTRS LPFP
Spec clutch
Manifold runner flap delete kit
PCV delete kit
GFB DV+
165bar rail pressure valve

Off the top of my head I think that’s it

Any advice is appreciated :)

I think you are all set.
Good luck with the mapping.
Should take a look at engine mounts if you haven't.

It seems a personel perference at the mo but there has been a discussion which was on going about the GFB+ not being as good as the new revision G ( i think OEM DV ). Hope you hit the mark

I put a revised one on it a few months ago but it was still a diaphragm as appose to a spring, not 100% sure whether it was the latest one but up to now I haven’t really noticed any difference other than the noise difference between the two

Is the forge cooler the twin cooler?

No I was led to believe the twin Cooler doesn’t fit the facelift model. I went for the full replacement intercooler

A friend of mine has a set of uprated mounts off a TFSi Leon that he says I can have to see if they fit, not sure if they’re the same or not

Do you guys keep the duel mass or go single nowadays?

My nephew has an 8P Sportback and the clutch has started so what the best clutch and flywheel setup ?

I’ve gone down the lightened single mass flywheel route but I get a lot more vibration at low revs under load now. However I have noticed a difference in the way the revs rise and fall when revved up out of gear

The only addition to the original list I can see would be cooler spark plugs

The G revision diverter valve is not the latest version but it it thought to be the best as it will not leak boost unless the diaphragm splits. I have run one of these on a TT for over 40K miles with no problems.
Regarding the Autotech internals, when they were fitted was the brass inlet barb enlarged to 5mm? A Loba pump comes with this done from the factory. Removes any restriction to fuel flow into the hpfp.
You should not need to change the injectors to cross the 400 BHP barrier.

They were probably fit around 8/9 months ago by myself and to be honest I can’t remember what came in the kit, I’ll have to have a look into it!

I think 400 is too much from a K04, i would go for 380 like me and have a bit of head room. You will not notice 20bhp in 400 anyway.

There's a hybrid on the list with uprated actuator. It's all down to mapping now.

When I enquired about turbo options they asked me what bhp I was looking to achieve, i said 400+ and they recommended their hybrid k04 as it was good for the power I’m looking for. I guess we’ll find out early Jan :)

yes sorry you will be fine, i saw Ko4 and missed the hybrid bit :)

You don't need a pcv delete for power, but the rest of the mods look like you should get over 400. Like Peter said, you should make sure that the hpfp fitting is drilled out to allow more fuel to flow.

Only additional thing that helps with flow at peak is the runner flap delete. AKS Tunning do a quality kit that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Does require a tuner, who know what they are doing though.

Stock injectors should be fine for what you're talking about, just doesn't leave much headroom if more fuel is needed at peak.

Custom exhaust is the only unknown as it can have a huge impact on the overall flow throughput of the setup.

Your turbo is not something I have experience with as most cars ive seen with proven 400+ bhp seem to run TTE hybrids.

Obviously the usual maintenance stuff will dictate the overall power, like inlet carbon buildup levels, spark plugs, coils, fuel quality, etc

The one other big thing is the map itself - good tuner will make a balanced map that takes everything into account rather than just whacking the boost levels up and leaving you to deal with unnecessary heat build up and wear on components.

I’ll have a look at the HPFP, have you got a link or advice on which part needs altering?

I’ve done the runner flap delete and I work at a garage where we do our own stainless exhausts so it’s one of my own systems which I have tried to make as unrestrictive as possible but I guess we’ll see on the dyno.

The cars also gonna be given a full service at the end of December to make sure everything’s spot on and it’s always ran on V-Power so there should be no issues there.

I’ve never used this tuner before however they seem to have a very good reputation in the BMW and Ford world, they’re also agents for APR I believe. I ran through what mods were done and the power I was hoping for over the phone and they were confident and obviously suggested a full custom tuning session which is what I wanted so they’ve certainly left me feeling confident in their capabilities :)

Fair enough mate - sounds like you have the hardware sussed already then :)

The HPFP drill mod is to do with enlarging either the low pressure or return fuel line fitting to 5mm in order to allow fuel to flow better at higher pressures. I don't know much other then that as my Loba HPFP came with this already done.

The issue with tuners that don't specialise in a particular engine is that when you get to Stage 3 territory things get much more difficult to setup properly and require not only knowledge of the specific ECU, but also the characteristics of the engine and turbo itself, among other things. I'm sure AET know what they are doing, but I would have reservations about them being as skilled at getting the max safest performance out of a TFSI engine as , say R-Tech, who have for many years been only working with 1.8T and 2.0TFSI engines. I had first hand experience of this in the past with a very knowledgeable tuner. Up to Stage 2+ it things were great, but when it came to the more unusual hardware combinations things begun to deteriorate. That's when I went to Niki and was blown away by the sheer depth of knowledge and experience with this particular lump.

Would be great to see what AET can do for you though - more tuners and hybrid turbo options can only be a good thing for our community.

Perfect I’ll look into doing that then cheers mate :)

It did come down to R-Tech and AET at the time and the reason I decided on AET is because it’s one of their hybrid turbos that’s bolted to it and they’re closer to me. They’ve told me with the setup I have they will probably be on the car most of the day to make sure they get the best from the car which always sounds promising. I suppose time will tell but like you say if they do a good job it’s only good to have another option out there :)

Good to know, thanks.
That one is rs4 fpr and it helps with mid range power and torque at stage2+ and beyond. It simply holds more pressure.
Hpfp mod on the other hand (as far as i know) relives pressure so the pumps (hp and lp) don't have to work that hard.

Ok I know this is an old thread but if anyone is interested in looking into an alternative to the TTE I can’t recommend AET enough! I got my car back a week ago with 430bhp after a bit of development and their service was brilliant! I do believe they are putting a bit of a video on their YouTube channel at some point :)

Nice ! You must be very happy with 430. :)
