Hi All!

Well... the time has come. I've immensely enjoyed driving the S4 for 3 1/2 years ago now.

Not sure if this is the right section within the forum, but it’s time for a change. Winter is coming. Bwahahaha. Just kidding.

No but for real… I’m gonna seriously miss my S4. Love the stance. Love the interior, especially the seats! Love the cockpit jet fighter feel of sitting in the driver’s seat. And that glorious supercharged burst off the line! Didn’t love the sluggish/jerky Dual Clutch transmission. Didn’t love the brakes.

But still… what a beast of a machine!

Was looking at the RS3 and RS5, even the new AMG C43 Coupe and possibly the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio (but it’s not AWD). I’m just not yet ready to make a move for any of those. I may come back to Audi in the future, but gotta be patient.

Soooooo…. to properly fill the need in the interim, I’ve gone and bought a sensible transition car. It’s not my dream car, and it’s certainly not an upgrade to the S4, but it’s super cool and I had to have a fun, fast, full time AWD machine that I’d be excited to drive every day.

Enter my new 2019 Subaru WRX Series.Gray

Bought it right off the showroom floor! (literally)

The Gray Series are very limited and all are spec’d out identically. I considered the STi version, but just couldn’t stomach that peacock style spoiler out back and deleting was going to be very challenging on this color.

Some key specs for the Series Gray:

Cool Gray Khaki Limited Edition Paint
268hp Boxer Engine with Twin-Scroll Turbo
6 speed with STi short throw kit was the only option
Recaro seats with Red and black trim – Leather/Alcantara combo
Black finish package all around:
- Side fender decals, Mirrors, Window trim, Shark fin antenna, Front grill, Rear badges, 18” wheels
LED Steering responsive headlights
Red Brake Calipers and upgraded brakes
Added front lip spoiler and rubber floor mats (neither installed yet)
Also added the extended 7 yr/100K mile warranty and extended 4 year maintenance package.

I’ve just got it back from the shop. I Immediately installed a full front end Suntek clear bra and then doubled up with Feynlab ceramic coating over the entire car! Also sprung for 3M tint.

And now for the pics!!

@ThatOneDude - Subaru looks fab buddy - congrats :thumbs up:
Loving the colour & spec

Hope your winter weather doesn't spoil your enjoyment to much lol

I'm another who has jumped ship from a S4 (see my signature) ;)

PS Moved your thread into the B8/B8.5 A4/S4 section as this is all where we knew you my friend

Lovely car but personally I don’t think it’s in the same class as the S4

I came to Audi S from Subaru WRX. I was amazed by the difference in comfort and quality.
That was a B5 S4, and although I loved that car, my B8 S5 is so much better.
Maybe Subaru has improved its comfort and quality, but it must still lag Audi a lot.
Nevertheless enjoy your WRX - its possible one of the experiences everyone should have at sometime in their lives :)

Right on bud. Thx for always being awesome on this forum. I saw your new Leon Cupra. Very cool choice. :thumbs up:

And the WRX does have full time AWD like the S4 so at least I don't have to worry about winter too much.

No doubt, friend. I still have the S4, and getting back into it I immediately feel the upgrade. I knew this would be the case.

Very nice, but those rear lights need to be smoked. ;-)

I actually really like how the red lights go well with the other red styling accents of the car so the taillights will be staying red. :chuncky:

Well I can definitely confirm that Subaru has improved their quality since the older models. But in general, I agree with you. Audi fit and finish is a level above Subaru. The Audi feels like a substantial svelt expensive and luxurious machine, whereas the WRX feels like a sporty nimble grippy tennis shoe that wants to play. I'm actually really enjoying the WRX for everyday driving. Feels well built and I like the pocket-rocket experience of an AWD turbo with 6-speed.
:racer:

very nice but also missing the spoiler !

I specifically did not go with the STi primarily because of the oversized "look-at-me" spoiler. I always appreciate a nicely designed spoiler that compliments the shape of the car (ex: Nissan GTR), but I don't think I would say the STi spoiler flows in that way. To each his own, eh?
:icon thumright:

I've thoroughly enjoyed owning my S4 and it is highly likely that I'll be back in an Audi in the days ahead. I just had my Audi in for service and the dealer had a Nardo Gray RS3 with black package. I sat in it and felt around for a bit. Really love the design and could picture myself there. Not sure I'd be comfortable with another Audi Dual Clutch so hopefully they change that out to the RS5 8-speed box or something like it.

I'll be getting a fully maxed out detail on the S4 this week and posting for sale all over the place. The car is literally immaculate and still fully warrantied (CPO) for another year and a half.

Thanks everyone. :smile new:
