Hi guys, can anyone help point me to any diy guide and ideally part number for the interior blower motor I've got a 2009 model facelift 8p sportback.

Lights come on on the climate control can turn up and down the power and the bars will go up and down but they never blow so assuming its gonna be the motor.

Got a code scan done and this came up:

Rosstech wiki shows this

01273 - Fresh Air Blower (V2)

Possible Causes
Fresh Air Blower (V2) defective
Control Module for Fresh Air Blower (J126) defective
Short of open circuit in wiring to Fresh Air Blower (V2)
Climatronic Control Module (J255) malfunctioning

Possible Solutions
Check Fresh Air Blower (V2)
Perform Output Test (Check Air Vents while Blower is active)
Check Meas. Blocks while Blower is active
Check Control Module for Fresh Air Blower (J126)
Perform Output Test (Check Air Vents while Blower is active)
Check wiring and connectors
Start with the Air Blower Fuse. Is it good? Is it in the CORRECT location in the fuse box?

My blower went and it was the control module for the blower motor not the motor itself, search my s3 thread for module replacement.

The controller was getting the control signals from the cc but not controlling the motor this can be checked using a multimeter in the module connector, there should be a power supply and two control signal wires, a replacement module was around 70 quid of eBay and was worth replacing first as a new blower unit was over 200 quid

Thanks for the reply! Stupid question maybe but we're is the module connector I'm supposed to check? I've got a multimeter so should be able to do it,

I searched "blower" in your build thread and no results

Someone fan seized up recently maybe this is your error too?
Remove glove box, keys out of ignition and you'll see a flap lift the flap and see if the fan spins, if it's solid free it up

AHH right will have a look in the morning cheers! Guess I'll have to take that bit apart anyway so if I can't free it up I'll still be in the right place to measure the voltage from the connection, obviously will check the fuse first

Drop the glovebox out and the blower can be removed the controller is mounted on the side of the blower and can be changed out if faulty, I think the blower can be removed without the box out I think.

The connector has two large wires for the power and two smaller ones for the control signal, as the cc blower button is increased you can see if the control wires change voltage

Awesome, thanks for the replies guys should be able to pinpoint the issue tomorrow morning.

Any idea where I can find the part numbers if I need to order a replacement anything? Used to use realoem for looking up BMW stuff is there an Audi version I can stick my vin in and find the part or does anyone know the part numbers for the module and blower?

The part number is printed on the controller

So... I had the car in bits this morning, first checked the fuse 40a as it should be and fine. Then checked the voltage across the blower control wires, again as they should be going up and down with the adjustment on the climate ckntrol. So removed the blower, not obstructed or siezed all moving freely so guessing it must be the motor has gone?

Or is there anything else I could look at first?

So you checked the control wires good have you checked the power supply?

If your getting power to the controller you know it’s either controller or motor

Check the motor for short circuits, also can you but 12v straight to the motor as it’s most likely the controller is knackered.

I couldn’t find a fan for less than 200 quid a controller was 70

Managed to find fan and controller for £54 non OEM but 2 year warranty so figured worth a punt. Will trial and error it when it comes and if one of the original parts still works I'll probably stick it on eBay or classifieds here recoup some of the cost.

Thanks for the help!

Hi,
I have exactly the same problem, was it the blower or the controller?
Cheers.

Glad it's all working. I had a MKV Golf for 7 years, only needed battery and tyres in all that time. Had my Audi A3 3 months, rear wiper failed last Thursday, the standard water leaking inside issue, and 4 days later the blower fails. Struggling to drive it in this weather. Not impressed with this 'premium brand' so far
