OBDeleven...

I've been putting stuff like visual parking sensor screen etc on from apps section. Need to code the door modules now tho' to fit puddle lights/warning lights on my sportback... Bit nervous!!

Used VCDS for years but having sold my last enthusiast version cable when I got rid of my Golf. I decided not to shell out early three hundred quid on a new one that I can only use on three VINs and went for OBDeleven.

It’s fine for following coding coding instructions posted up online but it’s not as user friendly for experimenting and finding your own stuff. I much prefer VCDS but it is less than a third of the price (assuming you’ve already got an android device to use with it)

I use it, but only for the nice tweeks you can do with the apps. They really are easy to do to. OBDeleven uses a credit system for the apps. Most take 10 credits, but something like VIM uses 100. You can build credits or buy them. You can get 6 free a day by watching adverts. On my A7 there are about 20 apps (needle sweep, start/stop swap, lap timer, boot remote close etc., etc.). Of course it can do all the other coding stuff and the OBDeleven forum is useful for this as its well used and model specific.

My advice. Download the app (android only) and enter your VIN to choose your car and see what apps you'll have to use. Start building daily credits, which you can do immediately. This is all before you actually buy the dongle, so when you get it you'll have credits to make app changes straight away.

There is no way I'd pay the price of VCDS. My last 4 cars have all been Audis and my wife owns an Audi, but I still wouldn't buy it. I managed to pick up a used OBDeleven dongle for £15 and a free pro code off a forum user. I was lucky, but the new dongle is only about £70 and a bit more again for the pro (which you don't even need if not making coding changes).

I got the pro version for less than £62 all in.

Direct from the OBDeleven website. £40 for the dongle delivered and £22 to purchase the pro code to unlock.

OBD eleven is a quality bit of kit you can do most of the stuff you can do on vcds also its nice to drive and see what your cars is doing live

Coding door lights was super easy, installed puddle and warning light. Just waiting for night time to check them out properly

Shame our cobbled paving makes it look a bit wobbly!

OBD eleven I have heard only good things about this product but I fear come time it will have its limits where your cable will be able to keep up with most models . Have seen 3 on here recently unlimited ones and they all sold for less than £300 which is a steal ,

Not sure, think mate got them off Amazon (birthday present)... turned out I had no lights at all in the doors on my sportback so retrofitted puddle lights and red warning lights to all doors...
