Long delays for new orders due to WLTP emissions testing

Yesterday my order showed on the app as the car being painted .
Today it tells me it’s in transit....
How accurate really is this do we think guys ?
BW44 was given (this coming Monday)

I think it might be helpful to post in the appropriate stickied thread, and perhaps read through it https://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/youraudi-track-new-car-order.254578/page-82 as stated before probably all the information you need is in there...

No worries , but my post was to keep all the guys with a interest in this thread up to date with our/my own situation on A4 orders to allow all tracking this thread to be aware of my latest position to allow them to gauge it against theirs .

Looking at our tracker it is interesting to note that none of the 1.4 petrol s tronic have build dates yet. My conversations with Audi UK indicate that the earliest build date for these cars is week 50 for delivery Feb/Mar 2019. Obviously they need the new 35 engine in stock which will be going through WLTP testing at the moment.

Interesting article on the whole WLTP debacle

https://www.am-online.com/news/mark...-shows-lack-of-wltp-preparation-not-of-demand

"Year-on-year, the overall market was down by 20.5% for the month and 7.5% YTD. The company most affected by WLTP was Volkswagen Group – Škoda was the least bad performer (-31.3%), followed by Seat (-36.7%), Audi (-53.4%), VW (-55.2%) and Porsche (-67.9%). As we pointed out recently, this is a Europe-wide VW issue, with Audi down 55.5% across the continent and VW Group as a whole down approximately 50%.

The reason for the problem is intriguing – VW said in August that a lot of engine experts had left in the wake of the diesel emissions scandal, and they did not have enough engineers left to homologate the vast number of engine/transmission/model/specification combinations across the group. The problem is that WLTP requires separate homologation of every combination of equipment, right down to tyre sizes."

Seems that the diesel gate scandal not only triggered the need for these new regulations but also set them up for all these delays.

If I didn’t love VAG cars so much I would have a new car on the drive by now from any other manufacturer !

Totally agree, this will be my 4th new Audi since 2009, my wife got her 3rd new one since 2010 in June. This is making me question my possibly misguided brand loyalty to Audi

Mine just changed from 4th Feb 2019 to 26th November 2018. Hopefully it stays this way or gets pushed forward a little more!

I've cancelled my order and ordered a Seat Leon Cupra. Massive change from the A4 but can't wait any longer and I got a good deal. Hope all goes well for you guys:superman:

I'm moving from a Cupra to an A4. Great car is the Cupra and so much fun. Just hope I don't find the A4 a bit dull.

With people now receiving build dates prior to March, does anyone know if the A4s will be the MY19 design or will it be the previous design? I heard that they stopped production of the previous design but it’s a bit unclear. Thanks

All A4s will be MY19.

Just been told by Audi customer support...

"After liaising with our Sales Office, I can confirm that the order has been accepted by the factory and is awaiting a build date. The earliest start of production date currently showing for this model, an Audi A4 Saloon 2.0 TFSI Sport 150 ps Manual, is 10 December 2018."

I've emailed back to check the model as it should be a Black Edition... I hope they don't start playing silly games.

As the German configurator is now live I've been able to work out the comparison figures for the old 1.4tfsi vs the new 2.0tfsi 150 - based on 19 inch alloys aka black edition like most of you are waiting for - to save you having to do it yourselves; I will get a life one day.. probably

Anyway figs below..

1.4
690kg engine
131g/km Co2
8.7 secs - 62mph
130mph top speed
Max 150ps available 5000-6000rpm
Max 250 torque available 1500-3500rpm

2.0 150tfsi (35 designation)
740kg engine
137g/km Co2
8.6 secs - 62mph
139mph top speed
Max 150ps available 3900-6000rpm
Max 270 torque available 1350-3900rpm

As you can see a trade off in a heavier engine and higher Co2 seems to pay off with better looking performance figs.

Great work, 20 more torque - at least we're seeing some benefit from this fiasco!

Had a look at the German site - whilst the configurator is updated for MY19, the all important CO2 values are still NEDC.

"Consumption and emission values according to NEDC **"

But from the audi.de website (translated):-

"Currently, NEDC values are still required to be communicated. As far as new cars are concerned, which are type-approved according to WLTP, the NEDC values are derived from the WLTP values. The additional disclosure of the WLTP values can be voluntary until their mandatory use."

So i've had a little play with both the UK and GER configurators to see what my order will be like, i've created a slider so you can see them and compare them. If you ask me, not a huge change....

Front side - https://www.w3schools.com/code/tryit.asp?filename=FWQZE0E45ZB4 <-- you'll need to click run to run the slider

Back Side - https://www.w3schools.com/code/tryit.asp?filename=FWQZC9BBB09B < -- click run

Rear - https://www.w3schools.com/code/tryit.asp?filename=FWQZB0XI08Q9 <-- click run
God bless w3schools, love this resource, as well as stack overflow :sunglasses:
Anyway, you're right, not much has changed externally and I don't think anything has changed internally at all.

I think the WLTP values can be found on the German site when using the configurator. I have attached screenshot of WLTP and NEFZ values for the 2.0tfsi 190ps manual.

I found this by using their configurator and selecting antribe and then goto Ihr Avant 2019 then scroll down to the button Vollständige Technische Daten and pres it.. Then scroll down almost to the end..

Hi,
new to the group. My tracker finally changed from Welcome to Ingolstadt to Order Received this morning, but unlike what most of you are seeing which is a build week, mines only saying that it has 'joined the production line'.

Any idea what that means? Does a build week get assigned after this?

thanks,
Neil

Not seen anyone with this message before, perhaps a new intermediate status whilst they are trying to find a build week?

Mine has also changed to Order Received this morning however the app doesn't give you a date for some reason. I checked the website and it says production is due to begin on the 14th of January, I'm just hoping this is brought forward as a few others have been...

Are you using the app? As that is the same that I see when I check the app, but when I log on through the website I can see the build date.

Yes that was through the app. Just checked the website and it shows 14th of Jan :(

Well at least it is some progress. Ordered it on the 9th of April

Good find - I will now try and derive the WLTP figures for my car.

This is SO cool

Update today from Audi UK -

the system is showing it has been shipped over to the UK port of Grimsby on 10/10/2018.

The previous update I received on the 26/10 was that it was waiting at the port of Emden.

Somewhat contradictory - what to believe.....?

2018 model ?

The A4 I cancelled last week now has build week 50 assigned. It was the 1.4 black edition manual saloon. Nowhere near as bad as it could have been! Dealer told me but it's not yet showing on the tracker

You thinking of un-cancelling?

Not one bit. Cannot wait for the A6 to arrive early Dec. Plus we regretted not getting the auto A4 all along. 220 a month was a good deal on the A4 though but 359 for the new A6 ain't bad either
