Project B7 420-R: 2012 Seat Exeo ST Sport Tech As Base Car.

EXTERIOR

OEM B7 RS4 / B8.5 S4 front fenders.
OEM B8.5 S4 bonnet.
OEM B8.5 S4 lock / radiator carrier.
OEM B8.5 S4 BiXenon headlamps.
OEM B8.5 RS4 front bumper.
OEM B8.5 RS4 grille.
OEM B8.5 S4 aluminium electric folding mirrors.

Slapping in a B7 A4 harness will require a lot of reworking, a B7 S4 / RS4 with Bi-Xenon headlamps and a similar spec level to the Seat would be ideal, but they don’t come up for sale often, and I don’t really want a heavily-reworked dash harness.

B7 wires for B8.5 headlights...

I think you’re misunderstanding me.

My facelift Seat Exeo ST has Bi-Xenons. The facelift B8.5 S4 headlamps, which I shall be running are Bi-Xenon. The wiring harness in a B7 S4 / RS4 WITH Bi-Xenons would be a good option, IF I opted NOT to add the gasoline engine elements to the stock Exeo ST main wiring harness.

I hope you understand where I’m coming from now.

well I still think you're bonkers chap, but good onyer for taking on such a project, just don't let it drag on for to long....

For what its worth, had a mk2 golf project that I stripped back to shell, replaced/uprated, cleaned/painted everything, corrado vr6 engine, dash etc, took me 10 years! When I started it was a relevent project, car of my dreams, although by time it was finished it was nothing that hadnt been done before, just ended up looking old lol, should have just done a restoration project, that would have suited my situation 10 years later in hind site.

Moral of the story, dont take 10 years! Needs to be done in a suitable time frame to make sure the cars still relevant/impressive and that you dont just end up with a 16 year old Billied Seat! Not saying you will, and probably gone bit over the top to make my point, just bare it in mind is all Im saying.

I understand.

I’m in the same boat, but luckily my wife is very supportive, and so are my kids. I actually get nagged to get on with it!

It’s not often a brand new Audi instrument cluster turns up on eBay. RS models even less frequently, or when they do, the seller wants as much as buying direct from a dealership.

But, a seller came up trumps. I have purchased a brand new B5 facelift climate control panel, as well as a brand new RNS-E for a friend, from the same seller. I wsn’t expecting a German seller to have this cluster in km/h and mph either. Looks like the seller has a few for sale too.

I bagged 1.

Rob, could you change the title of my thread? To this:

Project B7 420-R: 2012 Seat Exeo ST Sport Tech As Base Car.

Many thanks!

That's a shame, I allways prefer a straight plug & play fit if possible.
On the thread title change , yep that's fine but there will be a very nominal admin charge of...…….er let me see...ah yes its £24,659.55 + vat but as its you and a mega project it will be free....:haha::haha:

Consider it done chap.

Done quicker than you can say....Project B7 420-R: 2012 Seat Exeo ST Sport Tech As Base Car. :icon thumright:

Not much has taken place yet. Pretty cold weather, and my hands are full, as I’ve been parting out my B6, and carting off parts all over the country. I’ll need to finish stripping, junking the shell to make room for the B7.

And I need a new daily while the B7 is being worked on.

I haven’t done a great deal since, other than keep an eye open for more parts. Still after a pair of Recaro Wingbacks.

I haven’t even gone to pick up the car, as we’re in the middle of a move (country change). So thinking of getting the car trucked to new place, or embark on a long, long road trip.

I also have to move my stash of parts in a big truck, as well as all my shop tools, so super busy with it all. It’s too cold to start the basic part of the build right now anyway, installing quattro drive to my B7, so I’m looking at spring before embarking on this project. Meanwhile, the acquisition of parts continues, some from mainland Europe.

What's more commonly known as a " work in progress " situation then chap, will be keeping an eye on things for sure to see how it turns out.

good luck with it all, cars and life...

The deal with the black car did not complete, due to issues with the seller. He pulled out. As they say, every cloud has a silver (red?) lining.

I ended up with a 2013 model. Same spec as the black car, but also with front PDC. Less relevant, the 2.0 TDI CR engine is the 170hp / 350Nm version, which adds polished exhaust tips. The black car was the 2.0 TDI CR 143hp / 320Nm version.

I have access to a stripped C5 RS6 Avant, and everything is free. I am removing the entire transmission tunnel, I may need it.

Quattro drivetrain parts salvaged from my B6 Avant quattro:

I’ll be stripping the drivetrain down, having the arms and subframe sandblasted, painted, then fitting new bushings. Solid aluminium for the subframe, poly for the differential carrier, and most likely spherical bearings for the control arms.

As for the differential, I’m fitting the LSD from my 1993 4.2 V8 Quattro into the B6 housing, fitting new seals to the 3 output flanges, and painting the differential satin black, after giving it a thorough clean upon strip down.

I had considered 034’s adjustable arms at the rear, but at over $400 pre-shipping to Europe, plus customs charges, that’s not going to happen.

I have run into a dilemma.

With the help of some good souls on Audizine, I was able to get the paint code for one of Audi’s exclusive colors.

Audi Apple Green Metallic. And I ordered 8 litres, which would give me more than enough mixed with thinners at a 2:1 ratio (2 parts paint to one part thinners). 3 litres is more than enough to cover a medium-size Family Sedan / wagon.

Unfortunately I paid a visit to a Seat dealership today, to pick up a service kit for my car, and ran into a car that has thrown me into a state of indecision as far as paint goes.

My car as it currently is - Seat Emocion Red:

The color I’ve been really set on having my car painted in - Audi Apple Green Metallic:

And the car I saw today, who’s color is getting me thinking - Seat Samoa Orange Metallic:

These images are off the ‘net, but they are of the same car on display at the dealership. It was hemmed in by other cars, so I didn’t want to use the pictures I took indoors.

Yes, I have bought the Audi Apple Green Metallic paint, but as you guys all know, projects go through several phases, which may well end up very different from what was originally planned. No different to a Concept Car! I am not bothered by the paint I have sitting in my storage unit.

What do you guys think of both these colors? Both are stunning in their own right, but...?

Decisions, decisions!

the Samoa orange seems more appealing to me mate, but in the end, it's your car, your decision.

Dual tone... green at the bottom, orange on top...
Shoukld you decide to strip the Exeo, Nolly, and are parting stuff, shoot me a message fot the interior please(seats)

Colour is a very personal choice and I wouldn't choose either to be honest, just too much in your face, green looks like a skoda and the orange a 70's ford escort.
Dark met red or deep blue for me if the choice was mine, but hey everyone to their own and its your choice and your car.

Very interested to see how this project progresses.

I’d say green over the orange. The orange just doesn’t look as special.
