Whats up guys,

So Installed an intake, simple 45 degree silicone bend with a cone filter running from the MAF but the turbo spool and dumping sound is very soft, can barley hear it at all, my previous turbo cars always dumped very loud compared to this tjough the intake, I am installing a GFB DV+ this week to see if maybe the DV is torn or damaged and maybe causing a boost leak therefore not building enough boost to make a loud enough sound.

Has anyone else had this problem, I have searched and cant find anything regarding this.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi mate, ive had exactly the same issue with my A3 running a stage 2 and hf series carbonio, you barely heared the difference between stock and with the intake,

Ive recently upgraded to a CTS intake and damn does it makes sounds now,

After that i fitted a ihi mk6 gti turbo combined with a custom remap and now it makes al kinds of turbo noises!

Hopefully this helps

Cheers!

I am installing a "proper" intake, well DIY intake this weekend, will have 90 degree aluminium bend before MAF and 45 degree aluminium after MAF so hopefully it makes it louder as I suspect the rubber ribbed section is muffling some of the noise. My GFB DV+ should arrive on Wednesday so will get that in ASAP as my suspicion is that I have a torn DV and therefore a huge boost leak. Hopefully all of this combined makes it scare people when I drive past :)

Yeah that prob. will do something more, i think the whole black plastic intake pipe does the most muffeling of sound cuz it necks down at the bend,

The cts pipe is a proper diameter all the way,

Dont know if the dv+ makes any noise

Im running the forge fmfsitat

Ok perfect if after all my new stuff and it still isn't loud, will invest in a proper intake like CTS.

@A3-BTFSI - what is the intake you fitted? I had a RamAir on my previous 1.8TFSI and it was fairly loud - there isn't many options available for the 1.8. You have to remember that the DV on the TFSI dumps back internally, not externally like the Fast & Furious movies. Also, the DV is attached directly to the turbo so that will muffle the sound a little too (not a great deal I'd suspect). It's a ballache to get to!

The TFSI doesn't like external venting (it expects the volume of air measure to remain within the system) although I'm sure some have had success.

In my experience, across the A3 and the S3, the DV+ didn't work for me - I'll stick with the factory revision 'G' DV valve.

Thanks man, yeah I know that the dump sound is nothing like a big turbo jap car but I can barley hear it with all windows down. Im really leaning towards the the DV been faulty so will try out the GFB DV+ and hopefully I am one of the lucky ones that doesn't have issues with it.

Just finished my intake, just need to do the box but will smash that out this weekend with a template then off to my laser cutting guy for final product.
Sorry about the dirty bay :) need to give her a good wash.

GFB DV+ installed, and there was defiantly a leak on my original DV, car is much more responsive and the dump from the intake is much louder.
