I have uploaded a photo of my A3 S Line 2010.

As you can see the black coating has come off and looks horrible. Not sure how this has happened or
why as i have only just purchased the car.

I am thinking about removing them and sorting out the finish. There quite a few options i suppose
i could paint, powder coat or wrap them not sure which to choose.

Any thoughts please..

Best thing to do is remove both outside pillars clean them up and as most off the guys on here do is spray them black gloss. If i was you i would do them the same colour as your car.
As to how they ended up like that i haven't a clue other than a bodged diy job gone wrong but looks a simple fix

Thanks for your message.

Yes i was going to remove them not sure how they are held on yet..

I am not sure if they still have the original coating on them or like you say someones poor effort..

Remove them then completely remove the paint and then repaint them is the way to go..

Just peel back the rubber drill out pop rivets clean sort put back on with rivet gun jobs a good yun

I replaced mine this year from a seller on Ebay (UK_Partsmaster) and they cost me £37.89 each.
Part numbers:
8P3853289B for Left side
8P3853290B for Right side
Mine is a 3 door!

The previous owner of my car attempted to wrap them and make a mess of it, so I decided to do it properly and get the perfect finish by getting new ones.

Thanks for your message. This is really helpful

Mine is a 3 door too....I have just had a quick look on ebay and there are a few
on there even some made from carbon fibre.

I might have a go at painting the ones I have but if I am not happy with the result then I will purchase new ones..

Update...Just purchased new.... only £70 for two genuine Audi parts.

All the time and effort it would take to get the old panels to look as good as new....
