Hi all, I'm seriously thinking of adding a plug and play chip box to my A7 and know the A6 & 7 share engines so wanted to gauge opinions on 2 specifically - I've narrowed it down to either the RaceChip RS @£349 or TDI tunings box at £296? They appear to offer similar gains in power and economy with the TDI Tuning unit claiming slightly better results. I just wanted to ask if any other members have either of them fitted and what opinions are on them. I know I can spend more (around the £500 mark) but I don't want to spend that much yet or have a custom remap. I have warranty on the car so just want something I can take off at anytime if needed etc.
I know it's about personal choice but any advice or experiences would be appreciated to help me decide.
Many thanks,
Gaz

Hi mate. I have a TDI tuning box which I bought second hand from another asn member and it's fitted on my A6 bitdi which already has 309bhp an it does make a big difference. The power delivery is much smoother and slightly less lag when accelerating from around the 20mph mark.
Mine has different settings and I have tried mid range and full whack which is brutal lol but fuel doesn't last too long.
I've set it 1 step above mid now and it's great.
So easy to install and could be completely removed in 5 mins if necessary.
So basically I would higher recommend a tuning box.
Good luck mate

Thanks Buxton2905 & q5man. I will get in contact with ABYSS as I recall reading some of his posts regarding this subject and guess he is a respected member who will give me some good honest advice and hopefully an option on a DTUK box. I am keen to take the plunge as the extra horses and fuel savings are an attraction.
Thanks again guys, appreciated

Hi Buxton
Which tuning box do you have? I've just got a bitdi and am considering an external box or re map. Cheers

Hi Gaz, ive ran various 3.0 BITDIs myself over the last few years the last one being the 320PS BITDI A7, feel free to drop me a PM as we have our updated CRD3+ that is also suitable for newer Audis that use SENT digital sensors. - future proof yourself

Parts for STG 3 BITDI

The part number of the K&N air filter is: E-1983 (audi S6 or A6 3.0tfsi) Takes 15 mins to fit
The airbox is from a RS6 (part number 4G0 133 836 AF). Takes 15 mins to fit
And the wagner Intercooler for an 3.0 tdi Biturbo 313HP. http://www.wagner-tuning.uk/200001103.html Takes 2 -3 hrs to fit

Is the rs6 airbox a worthwhile fit for the A7?

Mines a mapped ( 305 bhp ) Tdi, standard was 245bhp but now mapped and back boxes deleted and straight pipes added... so am looking for other mods.

Does the Rs6 airbox mod any bhp, or does it just give better breathing?

Its only of value if you intend pushing the BHP and Torque up and gives the engine greater breathing capacity. By itself, you will see a very mild difference but in my opinion it's not worth the £280 you would spend on the filter housing and filter itself
