TJ’s Quick Detailing Spray

I am a big fan of Quick Detailing sprays. I use them for a multitude of tasks and often end up creating my own magic blends. For me they have to be able to clean everything including wheels and exhausts ( basically all aspects apart from the windscreen) . They have to remove light dirt quickly and efficiently. Eliminate bug splatters and of course remove water stains and assist as a drying aid after a proper wash. Texture consistency and how they feel both in application and once applied are other key facets that are equally important. So when I was asked to test the QD spray, I was very excited.

Fragrance - TJ’s QD spray has a lovely aroma. Once again similar to the shampoo there is something familiar about it and reassuring. It has a sweet fruity smell, the closest I can offer is Demon shine crossed with Mer polish, but its nicer and fruitier than that - like a bubble gum type smell. I think it has a nicer fragrance than the Car Shampoo, yet it has a familiar family smell. For me, ( bizarrely as it might sound) the smell / fragrance is high on the requirements of a QD spray. It has to smell nice when you use it and give you the warm fuzzy feeling.

Consistency / Depth of shine. TJ’s QD spray has a good colour which can be easily seen when sprayed on different colour vehicles. Its not too thick nor is it watery in texture. It therefore sprays on with good consistency time and time again with no trigger or blocked spray issues. It wipes on and off with ease and leaves a decent glossy shine behind. As a final note it feels relatively smooth to the touch after a panel has been wiped down but does not feel super slick like other QD sprays or top up sealant sprays might offer.

Water Beading - It does this very well, I have not had a chance to test durability, but on my cars that would probably be an unfair comparison as more often than not they are regularly cleaned and both have previous treatments on the paint work. However I hope the picture does it some justice.

Water Mark removal ? - Yes it delivers here too. I purposely left a panel to dry in the sun then tried it to see how successful it would be at removing water marks. Granted these were not baked on for days but were tough enough not to be just wipes away with a finger.

Price ? - £10 for 500ml ( £2 per 100 ml ) cheaper if bought in bulk. Once again its bang in the middle of the premium type brands. Factor in postage and its a bargain. Especially if bought in bulk. So factor £1.50 - £2.50 for postage again on a 500 ml bottle and that represents £1 - £1.13 per 100ml. Premium product at a great price!

Comparisons - Auto Finesse Finale - £9.95 per 500 ml ( £1.99 per 100 ml ), AutoGlym Rapid £8.25 per 500ml ( £1.65 per 100 ml ), Bilt Hamber Auto QD £15 per 500ml ( £3.00 per 100 ml ), Chemical Guys Speed Wipe £11 per 473ml (£2.32 per 100 ml ), Dodo Juice Red Mist £9.95 per 250ml (£3.98 per 100 ml ), Meguiars Ultimate QD £12.65 per 650 ml ( £1.94 per 100 ml )

Summary -

Finally I would just like to say ‘ Hats Off ‘ to you for bringing out a new range and for trying to compete and improve on some of the offerings in this product space. As we all know there are plenty of companies new and old all battling for our cash so its no mean feat to start a fresh brand. So congratulations to you.

Its funny if we all think back just 5- 7 years and how much detailing has changed, especially in the past 2-3 years. It wasn’t that long ago that this pastime was one that only a select few petrol head or true cleaning nerds/OCD people actually did or even cared about. Now it seems that when you mention the word ‘detailing’ more and more people recognise what it actually means. There are now a multitude of products in mainstream places like Halfords and some amazing dedicated websites like, Cleanyourcar, Slims Detailing, Polished Bliss, and In2detailing Etc. All offering equipment and products. Then there are the dedicated Youtube channels like Forensic Detailing, Pan the Organiser, Auto Fanatic and ofcourse Ammo NYC. Its all come a long way. This is of course offset against the vast number of quick dedicated pop up car wash places that charge £4-6 for a rapid quick wash... Not something that I am sure most people on here would advocate however its clearly something which suits many of the queue outside our locals places is anything to go by.

TJ has created some great first products and has priced them at an attractive point for the quality they offer, especially direct to ASN members.

It would seem he is now working on the very important Logo and labels and of course final bottle shape, colour and presentation. Which is also an important aspect for many potential buyers. If the brand is to become successful it needs to be instantly recognisable on a shelf.

Think about it...

Black and classy bottles - companies like Auto Finesse . Kleen Freaks, Meguairs Ultimate range and new comer Sam’s Detailing.

Plain / White bottles but instantly recognisable brand bottles like - Car Pro, Poor Boys, Chemical Guys and ofcourse the old favourite Auto Glym.

Then more quirky labels like Dodo Juice with its colourful logo’s

I very much look forward to following TJ’s success and wish you all the luck in the world. If I can help on that journey then I am happy to oblige.

I have put my money where my mouth ( or in this case keyboard is ) and have purchased some of QD spray. I am keen to use more of it and of course see how it blends when I make one of my ‘ magic’ potions and how it reacts and works layer upon layer. When Im low on car shampoo I’ll be back for some of that too.

All the very best

I bought a 2.5 litre container of TJ's shampoo and here is my review of it.

As a lot of you already know I'm a professional detailer so like to try out new products to find great ones that work well and good value etc, TJ's shampoo doesn't disappoint, the high foaming, nice smelling shampoo cleans very well! I've already used it on approx 5 cars and impressed with it, I've used it on waxed cars and also coated cars and it does the same amazing job on all of them.

Highly recomneded to all!!

Hi Jassyo06
£10 for the shampoo in a 750 ml bottle
£10 for the quick detailer in a 500ml bottle.
I do have 2.5ltr and 5ltr bottles .
I believe TJ,s is a premium product but for ASN members keep prices at Halfrauds level.

What is the best way to buy your products as from the reviews & pricing I would certainly buy both shampoo & QD - was just about to try Bouncers Done + Dusted but not now :)
Saw a post that you were setting up a Website ?

I bought TJ's Shampoo and Detailer on the strength of the feedback & photographs on this Forum.
I am not a Detailer or Expert in Car Cleaning Products - just a chap who likes a clean car.

Firstly Delivery was quick and Toby's communication was 1st rate dealing with my purchase.

I have never used a Detailer Product before but was going to buy some Done and Dusted but read a few reviews that some people had experienced some streaking so decided to try TJ's instead.

I have an Audi A6 Avant so quick a large car to wash hence looking for products which get the job done with the minimum of effort as I have 2 other cars to clean as well !

The pictures below show my car which was last polished with Poor Boy's Black + topped with Matty's Black - last done in April.

So a quick snow foam to take the dust off and I filled 2 cap fulls of TJ's shampoo and like other reviews found it good for retaining suds especially washing a large Avant - it left the car streak free when rinsed off and certainly better than Simoniz Shampoo I have been using so thumbs up for TJ's which left the paint far cleaner and with a good shine from the start.
The car is Moon light Blue and really brought out the colour.

Foam

Shampoo

I dried the car off and the next bit was a total new experience as I have never used a Detailer Product before.

I read the instructions on the bottle and sprayed it on the individual panel & wiped off then buffed with he same Microfibre folded in 4 sections.
Thought I was using maybe a bit too much Detailer so sprayed it onto the Micro Fibre and applied it to the paint - what do other do ?

Anyway the results were fantastic and I have never seen the colour come out so well - the Moonlight Blue always looked black but not this afternoon - a total convert to Detailing Spray and TJ's is impressive. For me no need to try any other product so next purchase will be a large bottle.

Detail 1

Detail2

Final shine

The Panoramic Roof , Privacy Glass and Black Trim between the doors ( think they call them piano ) have never been so reflective so a full convert to TJ's products.
Previously I had been polishing the car every other wash to maintain the shine I wanted - now that will all change using TJ's Shampoo + detailer.

So for me I can fully recomend both products and wish Toby all the best in his new venture.

Good luck with your new venture. Just a quick bit of feedback for your website. You might wish to include the bottle size in the description to demonstrate value for money

Moved onto Wife's car and same results - good products.

How many cars would you normally expect to get out of a 500 ml bottle ?

Got one more car to wash tomorrow so watch this space !

Looking good :icon thumright:
Probably ~20 washes, based on using 25ml per wash/bucket.

Sorry wasn't clear reading back my post - the QD - how many cars per bottle of 500 ml - is it better to spray on car or put on a micro Fibre ?
Know weather conditions will effect the spray if windy as today :)

Also QD every wash ?

Hi Neil
I am not sure how many cars a bottle of QD will do, i have always bought it by the litre so never wanting to run out.
Spray on to car first is what i do but as you say on windy days you can loose a bit.

Impossible to say really, depends how heavy trigger fingered you are. I find that less is more with QD. You watch these vids by manufacturers, and the spray on shed loads per panel. I spray on fairly sparingly, wipe with MF, then buff with plush MF. QD does tend to last a long time, certainly longer than window cleaner for me.

You are certainly right less is more as the micro fibre towel was quite wet which defeats the purpose as it should be on the car !

Yes, I would say (in my opinion) if your MF was really wet, probably using too much QD

Got the hang of QD now - last car done now so time to start back on A6 again.
On an older car ( 40 years old ) the QD does all the jobs on chrome / grill etc so a huge time saving - the 500 ml bottle will do 5 cars going by my useage.

Nice one looking good. Yep, QD can be used on quite a lot. I mistakenly used on windows the other day. Worked fine

Found the QD did work well on side glass but did create a smear when it rained with wipers on and will need to cut it back with some glass cleaner to remove the greasiness. Otherwise QD is multi functional.

Thanks Chris; I have to say, again, TJ's QD product is by FAR the BEST I've ever used

Here post today's ASN Stoke Audi meeting:

RS3 post Stoke Meeting xx

And sooo easy to wipe-over with a damp micro-fibre cloth after today's 75-mile Stoke Audi jaunt - as BLUEY is now about to get....

Note: might be holding onto BLUEY for a while yet; an SQ5 is 4"+ longer and 4"+ wider than the RS3; would be a squeeeeeze into BLUEY's garage space...

@THQuattro was kind enough to send me a selection of his new Detailing company's products

So a little review of the shampoo

Vehicle test mule - The wife's Renault Captur GT-Line
Wash mitt of choice - Microfiber Madness Increditmitt

As previously mentioned I do like my car shampoo's to smell nice
The one sampled I would say is a tutti fruiti scent

I had no specific dilute ratio so I went with 15ml of shampoo to 15l of water, which worked really well for me

A quick blast with the power washer to foam it up a bit -

F2e0Al7l.jpg

Nice smelling thick foam
Pic straight after washing the offside -

Pic after I had finished washing the car -

Prior to shampooing the car it had been pre-washed using ValetPro CPW
Decent cleaning properties & a nice smell to boot

Not a bad shampoo at all IMHO

Thanks Toby :thumbs up:

Just applied a smear of Ceramic wax to BLUEY's alloys, Toby; mega impressive; my hand slipped off the wheel just as it did with the QD...

A1 18-inch OEM rotor wheels (our winters) with a light coating of TJ's ceramic wax plus 50 miles and this morning's rain:

A1 wheels with ceramic wax

Oh, and POR15 on the OEM brake disc hubs and vents; 2-years now and no rust; OK, so a tad yellow in colour but still NO rust... Same on our TT and RS3 - why show a rust covered brake disc behind a nice set of wheels...

Managed to give the Audi S3 a quick maintenance wash. With TJ’s ceramic wax it makes washing an absolute pleasure. The drying process is so much easier and the gloss levels are still through the roof 6 months later!

Ceramic wax now being applied to bodywork, Toby, first to the A1 bonnet and rear-door and then, dare I say it, to BLUEY's lower quarters too! As with your QD, Toby, I don't know what it is - or care - but I sure do like it...
