Hello! Was just wondering if anyone's had any experience with changing the third brake light on the Audi A3 2013 8V? One of my LEDs is dead, and I've got a replacement from Audi directly, but all the videos seem to show the light being behind the boot interior trim, whereas mine is in the spoiler?

Attached a pic of mine, and a video I was planning on following. Any advice? I haven't actually taken mine apart yet, but it looks to be that the video doesn't have a spoiler?

Hi.
My father had the same issue on his 8V A3.
You need to remove the boot trim to be able to remove the spoiler.
And you are absolutely correct about the light is actually inside the spoiler.
The only advice i could give you is.
1. Start removing the boot trim. (To reach the screws holding the spoiler)
2. Dont use force, there’s alot of small clips keeping everything in place.
3. Be extremely gentle when lifting the spoiler off the window. (Not to damage any paint)

Unfortunately I didn’t take any pictures while doing it.
Funny fact is when the old man swapped it in for a brand new Q2, it came with a broken 3rd brake light from factory...

Good luck.

Thanks, sounds tougher than I had imagined!

So I took my car to Halfords to do this, was quoted £27.10 - they said it'd take an hour, maybe an hour and a half to do the work. 2 and a half hours later, they called me in to take a look, and they explained that some of the clips holding the spoiler on were very finnicky and they couldn't do it as they didn't want to risk breaking the spoiler. To their credit, they explained it and showed me what it would take - I wouldn't want to have completed it either.

Looks like Audi are going to have to do it!
