Replacement Tyres

Today I replaced the Bridgestone S001s that came with the car from the factory. They had
some wear left on them but decided to just get them done well before winter. I’ve done 20k miles. I have a Quattro.

I went for Goodyear eagle asymmetric 3s booked via Asda tyres. Got them fitted for £117 each.

I’ve found them to be more comfortable and quieter than the Bridgestones but the steering is a bit lighter.

Just wondering what others replaced their tyres with and how they rate them?

Wow that was a steal!!! Normally £130 only delivered. Can’t go wrong with this granddaddy of a tyre. One of the best tyres you can buy for the money without breaking the bank.
 
I am really happy with my eagles on the S4. Good ride and pretty quiet.

Just replaced my Hankook originals with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 on 19" wheels and I am very impressed, the Hankooks were fine but the Michelins seem to provide more feedback and consistency in the corners.
 
Think I would pay the extra and go for the Michelin Pilot sport 4S. In a different league to the Goodyears which are getting on a bit now. Just had to fit a new tyre on my car as I picked up a puncture in the side wall when pulling over in a narrow country lane to let somebody pass.
Went for a Michelin Pilot sport 4 as my tyres are 18 inch. Much better rim protector on the Michelin than the almost non existent one on the Goodyear. Will be replacing the other 3 Goodyears with Michelins in the next few months.
245/35/19 tyres are not as common as 255/35/19 so tend to be more expensive. If I was replacing all 4 on a car I might be tempted to fit the slightly larger tyre. Only 0.8% larger diameter.

I swapped out my Conti sport contact 6 with the pilot sport 4s much better in everything so far. The side walls on the contis are very soft which caused me to get a flat and which wasn’t repairable.
 
Does anyone have any experience with wear of the Michelin PS4's versus the Hankooks or other tyres that have been put on our cars? I know I'll sound like a cheapskate but as much as I'd like the thought of some more grip, I don't think that it's worth that tiny bit more if they wear out 5k earlier, especially because they're quite a bit more expensive and the Hankooks are actually pretty good.
 
Thanks guys. I've heard that they're good, I think that I'll probably swap to them when it comes to changing tyres but it's always nice to hear real world experiences from people rather than just relying 100% on videos and stuff.

Eagle Assy 3’s just put on my S4, very happy so far but no real wet conditions to rate them against the Conti’s that came with the car.

Seem quieter than the Conti’s and dry handling very impressive.

Yep, I’m in the S.east and plenty today, tyres gripped very well....impressed.

18k from the Conti’s when new, still around 2mm left when I recently changed, hopefully the Goodyear’s will hit around 18-20k to.

Wow, I hope that the Hankooks do this well! With using winter tyres for the colder months I don't think that I'll have to change the summer ones in the four years I own the car if that's the case! Hahaha.

I swapped my Hankooks after 19k and they still had a bit of life in them. I was pretty impressed with that.
The car will be gone by the time my Michelins get that far but past experience of Michelins has been good for wear.

Glad you got some good mileage out of them. I'd like to think that our cars would be fairly similar in wear so I hope to see at least 12k out of my set I guess.
 
I use the Audi mostly for longer journeys so that probably helps with the longevity.
 
Quite, I don't expect that sort of mileage out my urban driving. Plus different engine weights and torque outputs will affect wear rates...

Got the continental sport contact 5. I would expect them to last longer on a regular A4.
 
Mine's a mix of driving styles, average speed over 10k miles is around 32mph. I'm approaching 33,000 miles on the original Hankooks and they're still going strong, 3mm +. They are by far the longest lasting tyre I've ever had. I will be getting some more of these thanks!

Have just had my car in at Audi for some work and my Hankooks are roughly 4mm at the rear and 3mm at the front after 10000 miles.

Wearing pretty fast due to hard acceleration, braking and cornering for me.
 
Looking like I need to change my front tyres after 11.5 months ownership and only 7k miles.
The car (S4 Avant) came with the Pirelli P Zero 245/35/ZR19 93.

Thinking the Michelin Pilot Sports sound good.

Also possibly looking at Nitrogen inflation to try and help extend durability/life in this set.

Michelin Pilot Sports are fantastic, best out there I think.

My S4 came with pilot sports. ... but 13K in I’m down to 2.5mm front and 4mm rear. Not great wear I have to say, mostly motorway and I’m not a push it kind of driver. At this tread depth becoming skittish in the wet.. I’m changing to 4 Goodyear Eagle for £600 fitted (blackcircles) and will keep the part worn rears as spare. Owners Manual recommends on Quattro to have same tyres all corners. There is debate on this .. I fell foul off this on my old A6 3.0 TDI Quattro .. had drive train problems running different tyre types and depths due to picking up 2 tyre damages that needed replacement and fleet manager only replaced one tyre at a time ( not even pairs)... expensive mistake but I didn’t need to pay. What I need to do is remember to rotate..

When I was researching for Eibach Pro Springs, I noticed the 3.0 TDI required a stiffer front spring, so I take it the diesel is heavier than the V6.
