What have you done to your A3 (8p) this week

That looks nice. For your next mod you should move the steering wheel to the correct side, and then it would be spot on!
;)
It would be nice if my passenger had a driver license :)

Speaking of the next mod, I consider retrofitting MK6 GLI side skirt to my 8PA :)

@dp_motley - looks good. Is it a relatively straight forward fit? Is it quite clean at the hinges and the back?

Was it just the lid you purchased or do you need brackets too?

It's not straight forward at all. A lot of work must be done because the 8P and the 8V armrests have totally different fitment. You should saw legs off and than join the 8V armrest with the 8P leg. Don't forget to measure the correct leg hight so your new armrest is on the same level with the centre console. After everything is fitted and fine, you should cover two holes at each side of the armrest base because the 8P armrest base is wider than the 8V one. I used the bottom of the destroyed 8P armrest body to cut two plastic pieces for covering the holes. Here's how the base looks with the holes covered.

8V armrest to 8P up back
8V armrest to 8P up front

Installed a Kicker CompRT 6,75" in the stock sub enclosure, powered by an Alpine KTP-190U power pack. Added extra pins to the connector housing to make wiring look OEM: speaker signal wired into connector, to AMP and then SUB +/- from amp is wired back into the connector.

Will it fit to 5door ? A3 2011?
Yes they do a 5 door version too, I know because I nearly bought them then asked the seller if they would fit a 3 door and he said they are different and directed me to the correct ones

this is one of the holy grail mods for the 8P.Many have tried and most eventually had problems with the attachment point on the bottom portion developing metal fatigue. I will stay tuned

I drilled some holes in my rear door lock actuators and filled with wd40 silicone lube, now they actually work! Then coded in heaviest power steering weight, chirp on lock/unlock and cornering lights

More small mods coming soon!

You beat me to it. Came here to say the same.

Would you mind posting a link to that 5 door version that you nearly bought? I've got one more question. It's not a secret that higher rated gas struts also mean that the hatch is heavier to close. How heavier is it with this particular setup? You may be a strong man, but have your wife or GF tried to close the hatch? What is their opinion?

So does it break on the struts or on the car itself? Love the look of these but if they'll damage the car I'm not bothering but if the fail point is the strut then it's probably worth a punt

Just swapped the sidelight/DRL bulbs with some LED ones, can't believe how much difference its made car looks so much more modern and only cot me £16!

I had the same LED DRLs before I changed the headlights to bi-xenons. I agree, the LEDs do make difference in the car appearance.

The seller refused to ship outside the UK :(
If you find out how much it would cost to ship out to you and would be happy to pay the shipping costs up front, I'd send them on to you.
Let me know if that's any help.

My research has shown this result:
Sending a parcel to Denmark with Parcelforce Worldwide globalvalue, 2kg (there wasn't any weight information on these particular struts on ebay, but other struts on Amazon show 2 kg weight), £22.56 (only available at a Post Office). I'd be happy to pay shipping costs upfront. Are you the seller?

No, I'm not the seller.
I am UK based so I could take delivery and then send them on to you, it wouldn't be a problem for me. You would need to know the exact weight (contact the seller) so we can get exact payment for onward delivery. Don't forget that the parcel will have extra packaging, so the weights may very and dimensions will also play a part.
Obviously this has to be an easy transaction at my end as it a favour and I don't have time to be rectifying problems or chasing people up.
If you can get things sorted and all I have to do is drop them at a post office on your behalf and send you the tracking details then I'll do it.
The minute it becomes more hassle for me, I'm out.
I hope you understand and this seems ok to you?

I understand. I contacted the seller. I hope he provides me with all the information. If it becomes more hassle, I'm out too. I don't want to be a burden.

I think people were having problems when they fitted the OEM parts from a golf which was causing some rubbing and ultimately corrosion. These look after market and a different set up - be interested to see peoples feedback.

Just swapped in white headlight bulbs to match my DRL upgrade done earlier in the week

This is taken halfway through showing the difference, actually the old ones looked even yellower in person than shown in the photo, really is a massive upgrade

These are the DRL led bulbs I ordered

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/192075401714

Went for them because they actually had a picture of this model in the item photos showing the difference.

And these ones I got for dipped/main beams cheap as chips for a pack of 4 brighter than the philips bulbs that were in there and almost pure white a great match for the led drl

Was considering upgrading the headlights to the xenon version but not going to bother now after less than £25 worth of bulbs I'm happy!
