hi

I have a 1.8t Quattro 180bhp and the 3” downpipe I bought won’t fit, it get caught on the prop shaft, is there a different type of downpipe on the Quattro compared to just fwd?

Slot the boltholes on the flange and rotate the downpipe a little so it fits without touching the propshaft

FWD and quattro A3 DP's are different... after market ones vary in fitment of course...

Was it specifically for a quattro or a generic K03 one for VW Golf, A3, Leon etc?

<tuffty/>

It was a £70 generic one from ebay

Ignore my comment here - made the assumption that it was a quattro suitable downpipe!

im trying to remove the prop, ive got it disconnected from the front but i need to know what size the multi spline bolts are at the back bolting the prop to the diff, does anyone know off the top of their head

Why are you removing the prop shaft? Don't you have to drop the subframe slightly and remove the dog bone to fit the downpipe?

Well my Quattro system didn’t work anyway so I removed the driveshaft to allow for room the dp needed

Did this work out okay? Was there enough room in the tunnel with the propshaft lowered out the way?

You can push propshaft backwards to get some room. It wont come enough to get it off subframe but helps. Just dont pull it out too much when installing it.

I removed the prop shaft and left it out permanently, the Quattro system didn’t work anyway, although I noticed today a lot of blue smoke pouring from the exhaust after idling for a minute or two, but cleared up once driving, I’m getting the feeling the seals in my new second hand turbo are on their way out

Wow Am I reading that write you got rid of the 4wd instead of changing the down pipe and a £150 for a working Haldex controller?

Correct , the cars been a money pit already with engine and turbo issues from day one, I’m not made of money and after spending £70 on the downpipe that I’ve wanted for 3 months to find it doesn’t officially fit I wasn’t going to then fork out hundreds more for a branded one that would fit. And £150 for a new controller? I’d rather pull the rest of the Quattro system off then pay that amount of money for something i don’t need , not like I’m taking it green laneing
