Is anyone actually happy?

Turn traction off now every time I get in the car, fed up pulling away sedately or accelerating moderately in like 3rd gear and the traction light coming on! Bone dry roads too. Feels so much better to drive bootinbit in 1st. Actually goes!

Right so get in car

1 turn on ignition

2 switch to dynamic

3 switch on engine

4 turn start stop off

5 turn TC off

Wow don’t think I’ve got any buttons left Hahahaha

I’m still coming to grips with the mode settings. Coming from an a45 I had an clearly visible indicator on the console letting you know what’s on or off, and each can be selected individually in addition to your driving mode. Moreover auto stop/start only worked in eco mode.

In the rs3 I’m still not quite sure what is on or off half the time. I may have to put behind the bins checklist on my visor so my co pilot check tick off the steps when preparing for take off. :icon thumright:

I find the PFL gearbox great. There is abit if a clunk between 2-1 but I can only sings it praise. Gear changes are smooth in manual and effortless. I tend to take it out for a squirt around the lanes near me early on a Saturday or Sunday morning and find 90% of the time third gear is the only gear you need for this. How it shifts from 20mph to well eye watering speeds in this gear alone never ceases to amaze me.
I changed my stronic oil the other weekend with another rs3 owner and I think I will be changing a lot sooner than 38k as it was as black as soot.
It is know even more smoother.

That’s interesting regarding the oil, was it really that bad? I’m surprised the gearbox would discolour like that it was always my belief that it was the carbon in the engine that caused the staining of the oil?

My engine oil is being done every 5k, I didn’t think about the gearbox more frequently. Audi told us NOT to mess about with the gearbox oil changes because of future problems and holes in the warranty for claims.

I want Audi to print me out a full schedule of what needs to be serviced and when, regards to filters, oil and plugs.

Coming from a mk7 Golf R manual, it feels quick, but for being 100bhp down, doesn’t feel that much quicker! Don’t get me wrong, love the FL RS3, the noise is unreal, but do think it needs a map or JB4 box....

That's interesting, I found the Golf R I test drove (before opting on an S3) to feel no faster than said S3. The RS3 however feels savage by comparison to both. A map would be insane and superb, but there is no way these cars need it by any stretch of the imagination.

This was the gearbox oil Matt. This was its first change since new. I will more than likely do this job now every two years or 38k just because the oil is I know expensive but so is a new box and the oil is the blood in any mechanical moving part.

That is very very black haha.

You say you will do it every 38k now, that is the normal interval?

What I meant to say is that it will be more than likely every two years as now I’m not doing the mega commute I was before. I’m not going to get anywhere near 38k now In two years mate.

Quick question do the A6 washer jets just clip in or require some modifications?? Thx

Perfect fit, just use a trim tool or something that won’t cause damage to prise the old ones out, swap the pipe and the cable and then you’re done.

It's never ending though...stage 1 on mine and after a few weeks it feels normal and not that fast. Which I acknowledge is a ludicrous thing to say considering it's getting up towards 500hp and will do 100mph in 7seconds.

Now that deserves a :tearsofjoy:

have to admit, I did chuckle at that one

It’s strange because the niggles I’m experiencing are all being discussed at the moment

Hesitation in 1st, slow kick down, slow shifts in manual, TC kicking in for no reason

I’ve come to the conclusion I need to adapt my driving to extract the best from the car

I’m hoping the gearbox issues will be resolved with a software update
Hesitation in 1st, slow kick down...in an RS3! Now sympathise with me in my 2.0 TFSI Q5 bus lol

I’m guessing you just got them from your local dealers mate? How much were they?

£11 each posted, on separate listings on eBay if you search the part numbers. Funnily enough my local dealer is Cardiff Audi that sells them on eBay the cheapest (£11), was recorded delivery too.

I would have normally gone and got them myself but I had a few days in work and the postage would have seen them with me quicker and it did.

Much, much better. The old ones were never adjusted on the RS, they just got worse and worse over time. Tell you what really annoyed me a few weeks ago, car went into Audi for a test drive with myself to get to the bottom of my piece of rubbish Haldex operation, which got me nowhere again.. anyway, they decided to test my washer jets and I’d cleaned the car the day before especially for the trip down, ruined :crying: They tested but ignored the fact that 4 jets go straight up over the roof and 2 out either side of the car.
The separate jets require a pin in the jet to adjust and I’ve never been able to get them right. The new ones are so so easy, a small Torx screwdriver to adjust the height of them.. no horizontal adjustment at all and the coverage is brilliant. Mine had to be adjusted all the way to the top (so closer to the bonnet) to be aimed correctly.

By the way, the new jets are marked left and right on the outside where the outlet is, but the old jets have this marking on back of them by the part number.. took me a few minutes to try and guess which was left or right then I saw the discrete markings on the old variant.

I've adjusted the original jets. One was going straight over the car - just got a small screwdriver and fored it down a notch - hits the screen now (most of the time) - now all 6 jets hit the screen - still crap at washing the screen though lol

Great car & just drove 500 miles over the weekend in mine. Front brake squeal is a pain but I fitted some anti squeal shims & apart from the odd time mine are quiet now but i will replace them with some of the recommended replacements recommended on here. Might go Revo stage 1 map when out of warranty?.

I love the car. The constant bogging down can be annoying but the Stronic is a ball ache. I have no issue with clunky changes BTW. It just WILL NOT up-shift when I ask it to. Seriously, drive ANY other Audi 7 speed stronic from 2010 onwards and feel the difference. They ALL up-shift on demand and the change is complete by the time you release the paddle. You can blip through 3 to 4 gears in the same time it takes this transmission to acknowledge the request and then execute the change of a single gear. Granted, it has a reasonably good auto mode and changes quick when ragging it (in dynamic only) but in every day driving conditions it is slower than a 17 year old ZF6HP slush box. I too hope it is just a software issue but suspect there may be other factors at hand.

I don't have any issue with the turbo lag and is easy enough to drive accordingly, unlike the stupid transmission. If anything the larger turbo provides a smoother "larger engine" feel to the car.

I love mine but i want to put stage 2 on, and will be doing so in the next few months iv already bought the Milltek high flow cat and down pipe just an intercooler next and im ready...because who doesn't want a fast car right?

I had a tuned TT RS and drove a tuned golf R, both felt faster than my RS3. Both were manual, I think that plays a big part. To me, manual cars always FEEL that bit quicker even if they aren't (apart from the fact my tt rs was quicker than my RS3 )

There's just no other car comparable with 4/5 doors at this price range. I was set on the RS3 as an upgrade from the S3 but recently I've been looking at alternatives. For a new 4WD car with 4/5 doors and this much power, there's nothing else out there until the new A45/CLA45.

Other cars do have bigger discounts though, just for fun I was checking the discounts on other cars. TTRS I got 14.1% discount with a deposit contribution of £1,200 and 6.7% apr, which brought it down to similar price to the RS3, even though the RRP is over 5k more. Merc C63 S also has a 14% discount but has a deposit contribution of £2,000 and 5.2% APR, so you can get it around or under £60k with discounts, if it was 4WD I'd be looking into it. A Mustang V8 gets a similar discount to the RS3 of around 6% but has a 5.9% APR and £1560 deposit contribution. M2 only gets 5% but has a very low 2.9% APR. Jag V6 F type has 12.5% discount, £1560 deposit contribution and 5.9% APR.

Everything just seems to have bigger discounts, lower APR and actually get deposit contributions compared to the RS3, even Audi's own TTRS. I'll check the RS4/5 next.

C63 is 4WD now with a switch for RWD only.

I thought that was the E63 S? Or are you saying the C63 has it but the C63 S doesn't? I've only had 1 offer on carwow for the RS4/5 and the RS5 is cheaper because it has a deposit contribution of £3,500 and APR of 5.1% but the RS4 doesn't and has APR 6.7%. Bit annoyed by how it varies so much between the Audi RS cars.

You must be referring to e63. I spoke to my AMG dealer a few months back asking when the c63 will be released with the 4matic+, the AMG fully variable AWD. He said never as they want to retain the RWD characteristic for that model. But then again he is a salesman!

Maybe it'll be in the next gen C63 since the facelift has just come out. Most likely I will go from the S3 to RS3 so after the RS3, something like that with 4WD/2WD switchable would be a great upgrade.

The RS4 and RS5 offers came in. RS5 has way more discount. RS4 has 6.3% discount and 6.7% APR which is similar to the RS3. The RS5 though, has 15.2% discount, £3,500 deposit contribution and 5.1% APR, so you can get a good spec one for £58k. Would be tempting if I could get a 2 door coupe.
