Hi All

1) Use www.audi.co.uk/myaudi to send maps to your car's MMI, as the app's function to do this hardly ever works - app is quite buggy.

2) UK cars don't have the remote heater start feature

3) If you want to use internet radio, use Apple Car Play or Android. Personally I just use the TuneIn app on my iphone and transmit that over bluetooth to the car's speakers. Far simpler than faffing around with Apple Carplay.

TBH the novelty of the smartphone MyAudi app soon wears off. To do things like unlock/lock the car takes a good 30 seconds or so, I only use it if i really have to.

You can add your car to google send to, so I use that as opposed App or online. Agree on your comments

Mine does nothing, used to show me the location of the car but it seems its only telling me the location of the phone. The old version used to send me a notification when I turned the engine off too, myaudi doesn't. I can't use remote lock or unlock either, as I haven't SOS. No service information so an app, for me, that has no purpose...

As mentioned above, app novelty soon wears off, I use google and send destination to car, works well

Can I ask when you set up Google 'Send to Car', what did you enter in the Account ID box?

Going to
https://www.google.com/maps/sendtocar

screenshot app

I entered my car's VIN number but that doesn't seem to do the trick....

Cheers

Edit: Also tried entering the login info (my email address) displayed on AudiConnect online for 'Destination Entry via Google Maps' but that also doesn't work. Keep getting the error
"We were unable to send this destination. Please try again."

There is a 6-8 digit number on the key fob that would have come with your keys, enter that

Mine was the myaudi login email address, but you say you've tried that...

I'm afraid still no luck even when i enter the A123456 or 123456 code as username from my key tag. Also tried the 10 digit code but without success

So you tried the code in my Audi as well?
No, I didn't try that previously but just changed the 'Account ID' online in Audi Connect to to the 7 digit keyfob code and bingo its done the trick!!!

So for anyone else experiencing the same issue, make sure you change the default Account ID in Audi Connect online (Destination Entry via Google Maps) to that of your 6-8 digit keyfob code and then use the same code in Google.

Sending destinations to the car on my (Android) phone works a treat - from the Google Maps app select "Share", then the "MyAudi" app and in the MyAudi app send to car...

I just send from google maps directly to MMI Connect which puts it on car so no need for extra step

On Android when you send to either MMI Connect or MyAudi, it opens the destination in the relevant app but you still need to hit send in that app to send it to the car.

Its seems you can only send destinations directly to your car from Google Maps on your desktop pc browser, not on the smartphone Google Maps app. But I'm also not able to "share" the destination from the Google Maps app on iOS to the 'MyAudi' app, it doesn't appear in the list under the 'share' options. Not really too keen on using the MMI Connect app as that will be phased out very soon. Yes, there is an option within MyAudi app to send the location directly to car but as I said earlier, it only works some of the time and also it does NOT use Google maps so won't have the same level of maps details.

Use whatever works for you, works very well for me. I am IOS user, and next CarPlay (IOS12) will support google maps. I use CarPlay navigation and built in. If I send destination to car tend to use built in

Strange, both options are available on Android

I'll try it but it used to work ok with the same login credentials as myaudi. perhaps they've changed it or it is broke because I don't have SOS.

I originally set mine up like you with username, however when looked into sending from google worked out you needed to enter the unique code from key fob.

Ok thanks, something I didn't know, however it still may not apply to mine as I don't have sos. I will have a go at it though, perhaps when that strange liquidy stuff stop coming from the sky ;-)

Not sure what made me laugh more "something I didn't know" or "strange liquidy stuff stop coming from the sky" :grinning:

Might have to take a try at the link above though. I gave up trying to send destinations and have got quite good at just talking to the car instead.

Lol, I thought it would amuse somebody. I have never had issues sending destinations to my car but that was earlier in the year...

I am just amazed you didn't already have this PDF to be honest :rtfm::yahoo:

Lol, remember my car doesn't have SO thus I have never had to use the key code, my manual, being pre-sos also doesn't have this information and the myaudi app wasn't even around when I first purchased my car. As I don't have a SOS sim many reatures will never work thus I can't really be bothered with just the location of the car as a 'feature' of myaudi...

Just been playing with all of this in my new S3 8V, I wouldn’t have got far without this thread so thank you all. That said however what a load of rubbish it is, the app is rubbish and even the MMI is not intuitive to use. It’s far too awkward just to execute the most simple task and the setting up of it all is ridiculous. I don’t have much bad to say about my car cos I love it, but this app and audi connect is pants. And like it has been said above, the features are slightly pointless anyway, not worth the time. The only real feature I’d like from an app is to be able to heat the car before I get in, and it doesn’t do that, so for me I think I’ll leave it alone. I do like the touch-dial pad though for writing like a pen, it’s pretty good, just certain letters and upper/lower case get mixed up a bit but I’m getting used to it.

can't really argue with anything you have said here, it is pretty cr*p, but compared to previous Gen MMI big step forward lol

I don't use the App, apart from sometimes checking how much fuel I have left, or whether car is locked...not very often to be fair.
Use the google send to car a bit, but as others have said, easy enough to use voice control, select PO, or use touch pad, but all of these need you to know post code, so that is why I send to car

In my opinion the mmi interface is more polished and just as easy to use as our 2018 fiesta's version that resembles something from vtech for dummies. Thus children can easily find their way round. It is still based upon a microsoft system as well, not open source that Audi use.
It is perhaps more technical to use but that appeals to me and I still feel the drawbacks I have with the app is purely down to me having an earlier car without the SOS system that communicates with the key fobs.

To get back on topic, if I had SOS then I would use the app far more so lets not get confused by the two setups and those who have SOS as the capabilites are greatly different.

EDIT: I was incorrect about sync3 as it was the previous two version that were based upon Windows Embedded Automotive operating system designed by Microsoft, while sync3 currently runs on the QNX operating system previously from BlackBerry Limited.
Which is what Audi use.
Anyone still awake?
