Driving home car started running lumpy and EML came on. My initial faults were it can’t be much an air leak or something as the car has only done 59k. So anyway got home inspected and a crank case breather pipe was split so I ordered it and replaced it and the problem is still there. On idle it runs lumpy not sure whether it’s a coil pack, faulty dump valve etc.

Fault codes say cylinder 1 misfire - try swapping that coilpack around the cylinders and seeing if the misfire cide follows. If it does, you know which coilpack to change

What part number are the coil packs. You could try moving the coil pack from cylinder 1 to cylinder 4 and see if that fault moves. Just because the car has only 59K on it it's still an old car so no surprise you have leaks in the breather system.
If moving the coil pack doesn't resolve the misfire change the plugs. A set of copper plugs is cheap and may fix your issues.

Plugs I changed about 1k ago but I will try the coil packs and see if that’s the cause!

Looks like coil pack originally on 1 is definitely duff. what is the part number on the coil packs. People are still managing to get them changed for free if they are the original parts as there was a recall to change them out. And if your car was never recalled you may still be able to get them changed.

I think they are the originals tbh, funnily enough I had them change under warranty on my tt but never thought to check the a3.

Part no is: 06B 905 115L

Even off you can get the car booked in to get a free coil set, they are only £26 to buy the same day

If you want your car fixed buy a coil pack for £26 tomorrow, as a garage will need to be contacted and your car booked in to replace the coils under recall. That won't likely be tomorrow will it?

So you mean buy one for now until I get them replaced if my car is on a recall? Is that a genuine one for £26?

Thanks all for your help!

Good job... I have a bunch of spare coil packs too. You can still see if your car is eligible for the recall. But the new coil packs are nothing special, probably not worth the day planning and day getting it done.
