Before I get shot I know there is already a million threads on this, however as good I am with tech Audi connect/MMI frazzle my brain so much.

Now I supposedly get a 3 year subscription with the s4, all the google earth, weather, football scores ect all work which leaves me a few questions unanswered as I cannot see a sim inside the glove box and my connection manager is showing this. The data connection says connect sim but is greyed out, now does this mean the car is using my phones data to produce all the online information?

I can’t see anywhere on the car or on my Audi account to say how long my subscription is so if anyone has a simple way of knowing that would be great.

FYI I’ve given up even trying to get the my Audi app and MMI app to work with the car as it just won’t verify it, I’ve never known such a flawed system.

From what I found out after the car was delivered... S4 comes with 3 years subscription including date, for the CAR only... you cannot use the WiFi hotspot. This SIM is built in somewhere.

You can add a SIM in the glove box which you buy and you can use your own data. I’ve not done this yet.

I got the MyAudi and MMI connect apps working. Took a couple of attempts but it works.

You don’t really need a sim to have connection. My sim slot is empty and all features are working. If you go on licensing you will see that they expire after 3 years. If you can’t connect or use the service just ask your dealer... you paid a lot of money at least they can help you out with this.

The Sim used for data, such as Google earth, is internal so you can't see it. To find out the time scale of the licences go to menu audi connect data plan.
But I will say it again, as others here know only too well, read the manual and familarise yourself with all the features because the answer is there for you. To many are jumping into highly technical cars without prior knowledge then overwhelmed by the tech. Apologies for the 'wag f the finger' and don't take it too heart just one of my things...

Why do people think that you really need a Sim card to have network? The gsm module is registered to provider x and voila you have network.

Scanned through the excessively long manual but sometimes answers are easier to be had on a forum, when I go into this mine just tells me to go log in to my Audi which I’ve just given up trying to do. Oh well, if it runs out in 3 months time then a trip to the dealership to get it reactivated.

I work in IT and found the manual confusing. It looks like your internal eSIM has a connection, shown by the LTE signal strength indicator. The other one is your phone. Try the google maps overlay as this uses the eSIM connection, the other clue is if during navigation, the traffic indicator (bottom left hand corner) displays “online” rather than something like TMC. Mine displayed this TMC for a while as the free period had ran out, a quick call to Audi customer service enabled it.
I’d advise that you call into your dealer if you can’t work it out from the manual.

Needs to be verified by my Audi partner to be able to use any of the features so it’s a trip to the dealership by the looks of it.

You should have had a plastic key provided with the car - inside this is a scratch off "thing", which gives you an activation code to type in... this then sets up the myaudi and links with the car.

Although it is not simple, or clear, at all. Audi really let themselves down with this whole procedure.

Done all that, but I’m getting stuck on where you have to verify by either your number email or go to your dealership and annoyingly it won’t allow my number or email address.

But yeah as you say Audi have let themselves down with this, I’m sure they don’t need to make it as complicated as they have done.

If you have the code then you can set it up alone. Did you registered on myAudi site? If i remember well you have to enter the code on my audi then you will receive another code for the car so it can pair.
