goubo stroker gt35 build nears completion

Track Recorder videos at the same time as showing the dials and graphs I actual think it can display a google map at the same time?

so people put it out their mobiles onto the windscreen and it creates an MP4 of their track run (street run etc)

I am not 100% sure Android Torque Pro works with a cable I thought it only works with Bluetooth.

So this example shows the G Force on the acceleration, corners and braking.

just so annoyed I dont have a Kenwood 525 instead of 521 as you can put a cable from phone to double din and screen mirror.

here's someones example

I tried it briefly and considering it's an add on to a fault code app, rather than dedicated software, it's not awful at all.

That said, given most Android apps can be acquired for zero outlay (which is of course questionably legal in some cases and should not be encouraged, naturally) you might prefer to stick with something more dedicated, Nick.

What on earth does this mean?

Ian Hawkins wrote Android Torque and released the api and encouraged people to write plugin apps to use his excellent Android Suite. We were considering using it as part of a telematics solution at work. I think he has sold 20 million copies. No-one is doing anything illegal.

He means that there are places on the web where you can find the raw installer file for a paid app for free - that's what's legally questionable

you can download apk's but why would Rainbird advise Prawn to use a totally different solution based on other people providing hacked version's of a £2.67 application. A reasonable reason would be that if your phone isn't up to it you might find that not all the sensor's work if you put too many on the screen at once - I have had issues where something didn't get read and needed to restart the recording because whatever wasn't initialised meant that it couldn't calculate the BHP and POWER and TORQUE, it should provide an estimate on crank BHP etc as wheels to crank is so varied in reverse engineering.

Here's the Android Torque Plug In - referenced Android Studio, the whole concept of sharing an interface like this takes me back to the heady VBX days of 1995. I was creating a POC to collect data and send GPS locations, speed, direction, ECU fault codes etc to a web service, then you can use a Google maps web service to see if they are speeding by sending the lat and long and email / SMS their fleet manager. #bigbrother

What's track recorder Stuart? just data logging for whilst on track?

Looks very good. My free version (torque Lite) doesn't have Emerald in the PID options list. I'll get the full version when I hook up my OBD cable.

Rob: which samsung tablet is that? it looks a sensible size.

It’s a Samsung a8 if I remember correctly mate nice and small but big enough to see clearly when having a few gauges on screen..was the cheapest one in Tesco at Xmas time..

One with mobile 3/4G connection would be great mine only has wifi

Well today took the car for it’s mot and all is good...then gave things a quick look over and emptied the catch can

The weather was lovely so took the car out for its first proper blast since getting it back went along the A78 to Largs with my mate on his CBR600RR lovely bike but not as fast as the s3 on its top map

Then took the car to get a quick wash dried it and when home used some dodo juice quick detailer I bought ages ago thought I’d see how it looked using it....car came up well nice shine to it

Took the car out for a nice sensible drive today after the guy at sq car audio came and fixed my stereo that’s been not working for ages wasgreat fun no stereo on the drives up and down to bills at Xmas lol

So some music on and a nice drive around a bit of the coast just enjoying a drive

Then took the car for a wash and decided to use a new product I bought carpro hydro2 lite...so just gave the car a quick wash then used the hydro2 (spray on a wet car jet wash off) I took short video of it bearing in mind this wasn’t a full clean as I normally use a clay mitt and should have done before using this really but

Can see as soon as i spray it the water starts to run was really impressed with the way the water just repelled on the Surface for it not being a deep clean where it’s all smooth to the touch

Gives the car a nice shine too

Got the windows tablet hooked up to the emerald ecu after having to update some drivers for the tablets USB ports

Mounted it on two of they magnetic phone holder things holds pretty solid

Been toying with going back to Porsche 996 Turbo Front Calipers
996-531-429/430

Just for that slightly more sharper pedal and for proper pads that are half the price lol.And there is adaptors on eBay for the 996 fronts to use the r32 discs but when you see the 18z Caliper they do look so good

It’s two of these dude...I got them from amazon I got 2 for £12 if I remember correctly but you seem them advertised for crazy money at times I think they do that when they have no stock to save people buying....I think any other brand would do the same job but I went for these as my mate has them too

Have been actually getting some proper use from the car recently as I’ve had some time off from work...decided to go back to 996 turbo front Calipers

d30e6f2d0a2088e1ea269ae2360f2718.jpg

Got them from Thomas at addiction motorsport very nice guy he is got the brackets from there too was trying to get rs29 pads but was a minimum 2 week wait from everywhere so I just went with Brembo hp2000 to get me going and they seem decent enough but later on I will be getting the rs29 pads as recommended by prawn and also less than half price for the same pad for the 18z

Will be selling my 18z kit sometime soon

I bought some red hammerite smooth red to touch up and it’s pretty much a perfect match to the Porsche Caliper paint

Got them all on a fitted and some use on them never had time to do a full bleed just a half **** one but they work for now and I bought a vs820 bleeder so will get a full fluid flush when I get the chance.....took the car out for some tagging around then took it for a wash then coffee at the seaside

I think the fact the number plate says "s3 cya" implies there's more to this car than a simple 245bhp

Yeah it just looks a standard S3 other than the brakes...yeah it sure is I should get a 1.9tdi badge haha

I was thinking that, s3 badges off and a tdi badge on the back for that WTF factor

How come you decided to get rid of the 18z calipers

Well the 18z look amazing and do have plenty of stopping power even with the stock pads I was using...the 996 turbo offer as much stopping power from 3 digits but in a smaller lighter package and for some serious pads such as rs29 they are almost half the price for the 996 than they are for the 18z

Ok so it’s not because there poo then ha I starting to worry about mine then

I can’t believe the poo emoji is not allowed not exactly swearing is it

No defo not that pretty much a personal preference really just that I’m already enjoying the shorter pedal travel already and I’ve still not managed to do a full bleed....ment to be serious stopping power with the rs29 pads

Day off work...go for some v power and see what cars I can harass lol

you just want the air con on - it's more expensive to drive around at 22mpg than walking around Tesco's for 8 hours :)

Spent a nice afternoon playing with the car...filled up with v power then back home to get my new meth nozzle fitted as my current one is a few years old now..Got some meth mixed up 50/50 ratio filled the tank then went for a drive

Had a play with a very nice looking Megan r256 cup with all the usual mods cooler etc said the car was 340bhp 370ft/lbs

Also a 2017 rs3 wow what a great looking car and the sound was epic just never had enough power

Then it was just me going the very long way home as was really enjoying driving the car as recently not had much of a chance of late

Got a new meth nozzle as was reading about how they can get dirty.Mine had a fair bit of limescale build up

I was previously on a number 4 nozzle but now on the number 5 nozzle that’s 440cc/min

Also got the new coil pack loom delivered so hopefully try arrange it with the auto spark to do it when I’m next home

Was hoping to get my new genuine oe r32 Front Discs put on the car but not had time...recently put new mtec discs on but after a few weeks and the odd serious B road bashing I’m getting slight judder again so trying oe discs this time

Also got the new gear and rear diff oil waiting to get done too could anyone recommend a decent filler as last one my mate bought was like a big syringe but the oil ****** out of it lol any recommendations welcome

Up earlyish on a non hungover Sunday for me means car stuff

Connected the battery back up as I disconnect it each time I go away to work as the car seems to have a drain and over the course of 2 weeks the flattens the battery

Anyway got the little tablet out with the torque app and the hpa touchmotion controller for a play

c041dbe3b163dfaf4e65a2289f8b2f7e.jpg

The torque app is real handy and now got it set up with the emerald pid settings it reads stuff that it couldn’t before but still just have the basics on the screen but for logging etc can’t beat the emerald software on my other notebook book but this is just handy

Topping up with v powers so this morning so will either be a nice civilised drive to just drive my car or a tarmac terrorist full on assault on the B roads and try see what cars I can bait into a race lol

what do you mean about the emerald pid settings? is there other readings available with this

Yeah there is mate but to be honest nothing really worth while well to me any way as all I like to see is coolant intake temp boost afr

pretty much the same for me. thought you had found more lol I use to be able to get oil temp on FIS display but the torque app won't read it

Na mate nothing really extra lol...I can’t get oil temp either on it and I can’t remember if emerald software reads oil temp

Well few weeks ago I was out giving the car some stick then the next morning I seen a few oil drips on the floor and traced it up the intercooler

7f2e8323be52c824084bd8d528b40d16.jpg

Oil cool has a tiny hole/crack right below where the union is welded to the cooler...got a replacement ready to put on just getting the time

457b84938af3b441aee4da70bf5596bb.jpg

Also yesterday I got a new car

So the s3 will see some less use now but is still on the road for the odd B road bash and going warp speed and the odd drive now and then as no matter what any other car I have will never love it as much as the s3 8l
