What have you done to your A3 (8p) this week

Noisy alternator pulley

Noticed this annoying noise on Idle , at first thought it may have been Duel Mass Flywheel but after taking the off the belt that drives the alternator the noise disappeared.

So decided it was the alternator pulley at fault , the clutch in the pulley was worn

I ended up taking the alternator out and changed pulley and got the alternator checked over, all good .

Took me a few hours, bit fiddly but jacked engine up after removing fuel filter housing , coolant bottle and engine mount and squeezed through the gap

Uh oh. Not cheap I suspect :( did it just stop working?

Just over £200 for a new one. Yep just stopped working, i retrofitted them nearly 4 years ago, both were brand new at the time.

Fixed aircon issue. New g65 sensor and regas and it's good as new.
Also welded mounts for the 100th time on a rusty milltek downpipe.

After having Nigel NHN sort out a few wiring gremlins last week including rear wiper not working I’ve now fitted a more up to date arm from A3 8v much prefer how it looks

Aftermarket version is available for less than £10 on eBay. Just reuse your existing jet.

I want, lol. What's the quality like?

Sent from my CLT-L09 using Tapatalk

cant fault the quality. the clutch and brake pedal are molded exactly the same as the original rubber versions, and the throttle pedal slides over the original pedal, then you bend the tabs over on one side. when you look down at your feet theyre really classy.

It always amazes me how something like those can be made so cheaply overseas, presumably at a profit.
They look OEM.

I very nearly pulled the trigger on a genuine set. Couldn't face spending the money for something I'm gonna stamp all over. Plus the car is only worth about as much as a set of genuine pedals!

child labour most likely

i bought some exhaust tips a couple months back, fit and look exactly the same as the genuine audi ones which cost £60 odd. i paid £12. need to take a photo of them

even cheaper on ebay.

i wouldnt pay £50+ for the genuines personally, but for under a tenner for the same look/materials, its worth a punt. only took about 3mins to fit.

How easy is it to take off the exhaust tips, if at all? I have a 2.0T and the tips are filthy dark and beyond recovery. Can’t seem to see if they actually come off?

the principle would be the same as that video. the tips are held on by clips on the inside.
thats to say yours are tips though, they might be welded to the backbox?
have you tried autosol

cleaned up the tips on my old brera nicely

Ordered a set of Bilstein B14s, my drivers side shock is knackered so time for a cheeky upgrade

Today I had the Aircon cleaned and re-gassed by Formula One auto centres.
The Aircon worked ok, but the GF said she could taste it when it was on (I never noticed it) and it made her feel a bit rough, so I booked it in anyway.
No faults reported but the air is now a few degree's colder, so it was worth doing.
If you go online and book both together (there is an option on their page) it can be done for £69.
If you then redeem AIRCON5 you will get a further £5 off.
If you use a cashback website you could get a further discount.

Cleaned and re-gassed in under an hour for £64. Not bad.

More to the point does the GF still taste it .:thumbs up:
