First Service Price

Just paid £232 for oil change at Audi dealer. Seems fair enough. I don't mind paying for this service, but from past experience they charge about the same for the 'inspection' service at two years which is basically them looking at a few things. Now thats a rip off...

It really is a rip-off, glad others see it that way also. Have a really good Indy I use. He would “inspect” each time the car goes. Including brake service. Do they give you a cost breakdown for £232. You should bring your own oil which I’m sure would bring the price down. Just search Quantum 5w30 it’s the OEM oil.

Yeah there was 7 litres of Mobil 1, a filter and either a washer or a sump plug. I could get the oil changed cheaper but seems ok for a main dealer stamp. It’s the stand alone inspection at 2 years that gets me.

Does anyone know if a personal lease with VWFS does require you to use a main dealer?

Independents must get bored writing quotes just for people to use to price match at the dealer!

Check your lease. It will stipulate I’m sure. Under maintenance or servicing. I’ve seen many mention dealer servicing.

I’ve been quoted £24/month for Audi Complete Service + Maintenance on a new SQ5 over 4 years. Just under £300/year seems not too bad given I’ve inflation proofed my costs...

just negotiated £270 for my 1st oil change after 1 year and 3700 miles :( faaark im in the wrong job!

I declined the B&O trim replacement ( I don't want a sticker instead of the Ali piece) and declined a complimentary wash but said id have the hoover!..

so what exactly Am I paying £270 for? just some oil and filter?

I know thread is for first service price but has anyone had quotes for 2nd service oil change plus inspection? Mines due soon and may go with an independent specialist as car isn't under warranty. Any recommendations in or near North Oxfordshire? Found a thread on another forum recommending APS in Brackley but it was from ages back.

Well I had my car in for it's first service last week, and the dealership honoured the £157 price match. Big saving from the £430 they originally quoted me!

It amazes me how much geographical location can influence price. I’m booked in for my first service on my S4 next week, I’m on fixed service schedule so just oil & filter as I’ve done 9k miles - dealer quoted £265, but quickly offered 10% when I asked for a discount, now I’ve got them to price match a local independent, £130!
They also have introduced charges for a courtesy car, £15 but a quick moan and that’s been waved on this occasion.

This is why I stuck at my service plan as it then doesn't matter where I have the car serviced...

The Service Plan does make sense if you are planning on keeping the car. If, like me, you plan on changing after 2-3 years, then it's not worth it.

I am only keeping mine for three years and at £9.56 per month on a fixed service schedule it is worth it. if I keep it for less then I stop paying.

Yes then probably not cost effective for you to have a service plan. Would be interested in the cost though and how it would compare to mine.

Tried my local Indy (Edinburgh) for a quote - but no dice, due to others having done the same!

Fair enough I suppose.. but that still leaves me a £300+ service cost & I’m tied to Audi as it’s financed through VWFS. Bah

I just had the first service, like the OP oil and filter change, software update and a few checks, and was charged £311.60 by the Audi service dept at Arnold Clark Volkswagen garage at Bogside near Wishaw, Lanarkshire. Should add that they did valet the car pretty thoroughly, probably the most expensive car wash ever. :grinning:

p.s. I should have added that, when I was originally quoted the price, I queried it, as one does, to be advised that the price is set by Audi, not by individual garages.

Ouch, can be very expensive especially if they are anything like the valers our local dealerships use...

I know I used the word valet but, to be correct, I should have said the car was well washed and hoovered, including taking out the carpet mats to hoover underneath them.

I wouldn’t let the dealer wash my car or those hand car wash for that matter

Yeah, I know what you mean and normally would agree with you, but the weather recently has been sh*t and my car was filthy and I am currently knackered with a gammy knee.
