Usb connectivity - a3

Hi,

I've just bought a a3 1.4t s line, 2010 plate, seems very nice overall, the 6cd changer is lovely, but in my old car I have a head unit with usb stick connection, doesn't look very nice but very easy to have new music on a usb stick.

Am I right in saying this is a ipod dock connector for the old style ipods ? it had a lot of different plastic sleeves in the glove box. This will not allow one of the MDI type cables to be connected will it?

Which device can I buy to wire in so I can have usb playback with no issues?

Excuse the dirt needs a clean still.

No mate that's not MDI style I'm afraid, the Audi equivalent is Ami & that works with newer RNS nav unit, your unit is the old crappy iPod unit, however you could stream via a bt dongle from that port for tunes, then use your phone Spotify etc.

I may have stock of the bt unit, pm if of interest.

Ah ok thought it might be, is there any units that can be plugged into the stereo unit loom to allow a box that takes sd cards and usb sticks available?

To be honest @guysy forking out and buying the one from @NHN would be ur best bet as it will save u in the long run as it is not a mayor retrofit i am lead to believe but it could end up costly especially if you have no clue to what your going to do ie wires in the back etc

Yeah I will keep the dongle in mind, but I'm not really a streamer for music, I dont use spotify etc, I thought there would be someone that could recommend a unit that plugs into the loom.

I should be fine with the wiring side of things hopefully.
