The "Rimz" Thread ** Look here before requesting pics of specific wheels**

All good. Just measured now and it looks to be approx. 35mm gap at the front, and 37mm gap at the back :) Even enough for me haha
Thank you! May I ask you how you measured the gap? Did you put a plank on the tyre and then measured the distance from the fender to the bottom of the plank? I did this way and my measurement at the front approx. the same as yours with 10 mm lower at the back. But my car, despite it has close to yours ride height, was lowered 20 mm only. That's strange. Can facelift A3 stock suspension be lower than the pre-facelift? I read that MK5 Golf 2008-2009 is lower than the same model before 2008. Perhaps your pre-facelift suspension was approx. 10 mm higher than mine. Please have a look at this post. This is a facelift A3 lowered 30 mm. It looks like mine when it was lowered 30 mm.

I measured the fender to ground hight as 655 mm (with 20 mm lowering) yesterday.

ash187 what is the exact setup on the black s3 and does it have a drop?

If I had an Et 45 with that Setup would that be an issue?

Not at all... we 42 just sat nicely on the arch... the lower the number the more out it sticks... the higher the number the more in under the arch it goes.

The inner clearance is my concern, it says I will have 2mm less inner clearance.

Hi everyone! If you were looking for new 18 inch alloys for your car today, what rims would you choose? I consider selling my 17" winter wheels and put new winter rubber on my 18" silver OEM RS3 alloys. Then I would need new 18" summer wheels. I'm struggling to find rims I like because what I like doesn't exist in a size less than 19" and if I even find a replica of a trendy wheel design, it doesn't look good as 18".

Has anyone painted these S3 alloys on a meteor grey sportback ? Looking for ideas ?
Thanks

So, I got me an A3 and the 16's fitted are just lame.

I have the chance of a set of 18 x 8.5J ET 45 Radi8 wheels but not sure if I need 18 or 19's as I would like the slammed stanced look but also want to retain some practicality as it will be driven by my wife who has parking issues.

Will the 18's give the appeal and balance I'm looking for or should I just go for 19's ?

I'd like a little tyre wall too to protect against kerbing and give some ride comfort.

Any advice received.

Can anyone comment on comfort difference between 18" and 19" wheels with 225 or 235 tyres? I inflate my 18" tyres same as it's suggested for 17" tyres on a sticker and I don't notice any difference in comfort between 17" and 18". Can I inflate 19 inch tyres the same as 17"/18" (2.5 bar front / 2.1 bar rear) and expect similar ride comfort or 19" tyres less comfortable anyway due to firmer side wall? I don't really care of potholes but there are lots all repaired cracks and patches on asphalt where I live.

P.S. I'm on Eibach Pro springs if that matters.

Are those reps? Where from please?
Also, they seem to be sticking out a bit as if you’ve added spacers - is it so or it’s not possible to get reps that are the standard 7.5 J ET 54 that Audi’s have.

Most definitely they are reps. They're sticking out because the car is on the SE suspension. At least the ride height looks like the SE. They would not stick out if the car was lowered though. I don't believe it's possible to find reps with standard oem size. They are often 18x8 ET45.

I have an S-Line. Will it be better? How much is an S-Line lowered compared to a SE?

10mm lower from what I've been reading, I'm a noob to Audi's though so could be wrong.

Yes, they are Reps 18” 5 twin spoke RS6 replicas, no spacers.

Anyone got an idea what size these rotors would be? 18 or 19”?
Looks like what I want but has that been lowered do we think?

They were 19” x 8.5j ET 43.
Still on the lookout for some 8j ET 48 or 50
There's a few photos on the fb page of people running et35 9.5j on 8p, saying had no arch work. Am I missing something? Granted not clued up that much on wheels.

Hi, guys! I've looked through the whole thread and didn't found exactly what I wanted. Sooo.. my question is what tires to put so my A3 2011 1.6 TDI not to rub?
I think that the front is poking waaay too much and I am veeery worried about rubbing. I am with stock suspention.
Any advice will be appreciated!
The rims are 18x8.5 ET40 Japan Racing-11

Here are a few pics of the new summer set, that I am worried so much about.
