I know there is loads of post about this in the pass but when i did a search i couldn't find anyone that did a Poll about it.

I've watched the videos and read the post but still cant make up my mind.

If i do decide to get it done, my question is: My car as only done 400 miles from new since i picked it up last month, Should i wait until i put more miles on it??

Thanks!

It is the best mod you can do. Makes the exhaust about 30% louder. You do get drone over 3k revs, but in 7th gear you can sit at triple figures without drone. And the drone is actually a good thing when you’re accelerating hard through gears. Makes it sound sporty. Only time it would ever annoy me is if it was constant on a motorway stint, but as stated above it doesn’t really effect the facelift model with the extra gear.

I say yes. But I think people should open up the exhaust valves before buying one too as that makes quite a difference I found.

Bare in mind Audi will probably void warranty around the exhaust because of it though.

What do you mean by "Open up exhaust valves"? Pass a certain miles on the car?

Not much time so link to a video a member made.
The outter exhaust tips will get dirtier because the valves for them aren't being used. Opening the valves for the outter 2 will improve the sound in all driving select modes throughout the rev range.

They can be coded open as well instead of unplugging the cables.

lol i been thinking it for months mate, PMSL. am tempted to get the BCS anti drone one though

No. I have it on mine and hate it. It's the BCS res delete with anti-drone and it still drones imo... it's coming off very soon and going up for sale if anyone wants one lol. #shameless plug

May be interested, depending on price :footy: Do you have your valves open?

This is where I think things come quite subjective of how people consider drone. Unless different cars are just producing totally different sounds.

Atleast on my PFL, with valves open (with BCS res delete), the sound on the motorway is bearable but a little deep, put your foot down and the boost gauge goes up and the car can be uncomfortably noisy (but when crusing you should have no/little boost anyway).
Valves shut is much better with the res delete for motorway journeys, I can control it via a remote and its very noticeable in the front of the car. For day to day driving and hooning it around, valves open and res delete please :)

I have res delete and valves always open. Nowhere near as loud as other performance cars but still a massive improvement over stock.

I have the BCS res delete and of course it produces more drone than the stock exhaust (it should be called drone reducing and not delete) but god damn that noise! The pops and bangs just makes you smile and love the car even more - I can't recommend it enough :hi:

No, valves are on automatic, so open sometimes and closed in other modes.
Fair enough, feel free to drop us a PM when selling, reckon I’d still be interested :icon thumright:

I’ve recently purchased the BCS one with the anti drone feature, I simply can’t fault it. Expensive for what it is but definitely worth it car sounds so much better.

I also have the BCS Res Delete it was worth the money for me.

Yeah i also bought the bcs res delete when my car had 900 miles on it best decision i made no drone and sounds immense

I say yes, and permanently open the flaps, lots more pops and bangs, drones a bit on the motorway but putting it in comfort makes it a little quieter, but its trade off.

l dont need BCS.....!!!! If l want to hear the exhaust noise....l just tilt or open the pano-roof....

But its always raining in Scotland, you wouldn't want to get the leather wet :)
I do wish I had the pano-roof though to hear the sound difference, or as I've said before.. cabriolet :)

Got mine done two weeks ago after deliberating for the last month, love the car but in my opinion its just too quiet for a 300 brake car. All the comments about drone and people getting the resonator put back on were putting me off, especially with the price of these anti-drone pipes and the fact that a lot of comments I saw with people putting the resonator back on were coming from people who had bought anti-drone pipes!

I decided to just try a straight pipe so that if it wasn’t to my taste I could get the resonator back on and it would only be a 120-130 quid lesson learnt. Went to a local custom exhaust place in Leeds who did the job in an hour for 90 notes and just welded in a bit of stainless the same length of the resonator, as soon as you fire up the car it just sounds incredible, and immediately the pops and bangs are a lot more pronounced.

Mine has just hit 1,100 miles and was at around 800 when resonator was removed, from new (2 miles) to present the exhaust has not really got any louder, a lot of people say it keeps inceasing in volume until 2-3k miles but I only noticed pops and bangs changing. I’ve never tried the exhaust flap mod but might try that shortly.

As everyone else says, drone and overall noise is subjective, mine doesn’t really drone but on full throttle its LOUD, although seems to be me that thinks its loud in the cabin while outside people have said it sounds amazing and not boy racer loud. Had quite a few people from work comment on how good it sounds.

I drive to work every day on the motorway and I don’t get drone unless i’m smashing it, like others have said 7th gear is silent like stock, and steady acceleration is really quiet too. It’s only when you floor it that it roars.

If 300 quid or so isn’t a big deal to you try the anti-drone and you can always get your resonator re-fitted, otherwise just do a cheap straight pipe weld job and see what you think. Based on my experience with a straight pipe being such an excellent mod I don’t think you’ll have an issue or any regrets with something marketed as being specifically anti-drone.

Hope this helps

Thanks!, That as helped a lot mate.

The problem i have is i don't know any good trusted exhaust places around my area and i don't want to choose a place at random and they mess it up as it a brand new car and i've only just done over 600 miles in it.

How ever i have found this https://www.awesomegti.com/shop-by-car/audi/s3-8v/resonator-delete-pipe-kit-audi-s3-8v/ from Awesome GTI in Manchester i know these guys are good but the link doesn't tell you much about the resonator kit if its a anti drone or not. What do you thing?

Also how this Warranty affected by doing this mod? some people tell me it will be void, others tell me it only voids the exhaust.

That doesn’t have the anti-drone pipe coming off so I would say thats basically what I had done, except I paid only £90 quid! I believe the anti-drone is a small curled pipe coming from the main pipe but I can’t upload pics from my phone, but you can see the pipe on any res delete with anti-drone., although it seems very debatable whether it works from what I’ve read.

One of the reasons I went the route I did was that I wanted it welding at both sides as a few people have had issues with these kits not being clamped properly, it seems some are clamped both sides and some are clamped one end like this one, mine is welded both sides so I didn’t have to worry about taking it back to get the clamp(s) re-done. I would say keep that in mind if you are going to have to travel a fair bit to get the work done, and definitely do your homework, like you say its a new expensive motor and unfortunately there are some bad places out there.

My job was done by Tony Banks in Leeds, he has a very good rep and when I was there he was really busy, 3 other customers waiting and the phone was ringing off the hook. I will say that I tried about 6 other garages in my area and none of them did this mod, it was a pain finding someone at all. I considering going back to Tony for a full cat back.

For the warranty I’m not an expert on Audi but I would think they would try and fob you off for anything on the exhaust, although a lot of people say it would just be the back box, no one seems to have posted anything giving proof either way. You shouldn’t have any issues with a new car exhaust inside 3 yrs anyway, the only thing that looks like it could be an issue is the exhaust valves which aren’t the end of the world to pay for in the worst case, although I wouldn’t be having that! For anything else on the car they wouldn’t have a leg to stand on but may try anyway, if you have no problem standing your ground it won’t be an issue. I work for a large rotating equipment manufacturer and they will (like any company) look for any excuse to wriggle out of a warranty claim.

I don’t know your situation but this is a relatively low risk mod if you go with a reputable company, but if a warranty refusal costing you a few grand would put you in financial ruin then I would never recommend modding your car, very, very unlikely you’d end up in that situation though with a res delete.

If it makes you feel any better my mate has a lease S3 and is getting this done, mine is a PCP and I will be doing some more mods this yr and will likely trade it in for an RS3 in a couple of yr with mods left on :tearsofjoy:
