Ebay experiences

Like a lot of people, I use Ebay to buy a few bits, and occasionally sell some stuff too....recently, a spare laptop charger, tested and working. So I list it, and agree a generous price about £10 with free P&P with the buyer. Let's call him "****". **** pays promptly and leaves a message saying don't send it using a certain carrier because they just dump stuff in his street. I reply saying I'll use a different carrier.
I then get another message asking will I send it sooner rather than later. I've listed it as free P&P and reply saying as it happens I've sent it earlier, 2nd class and give **** the tracking number.
Three days later, **** sends me a message at 930am.....he's received the charger, but says it doesn't work. And he's sent me three pics of some multimeter type device connected to the charger.
A few mins later, **** sends another message saying he's sure it's damaged so he's returning it and is miffed because he needed it badly.
About 5pm, just as I'm about to send a reply, I get another message from ****, "All ok the cable at the end out of the charger was loose so pushed it back and all is ok".
So basically, **** unpacked it and did not attach the leads correctly.

I've not had many bad experiences really, as a buyer or seller. Nothing major anyway.

Didn't get scammed this time. Just an idiot, - a technically-minded one who can use a multimeter to check voltages - but can't do a basic check to see if he's plugged the cables in properly.

Although I have been scammed before. A scammer once bought a £50+ watch from me. He received it leaving positive feedback saying he loved it, it fitted great. Three wks later, he claimed it arrived damaged. He sent pics showing a filthy watch with a strap that was severed in two different places. When I asked why he originally left positive feedback, he claimed he "accidentally" left me positive feedback. He claimed he didn't notice the damage straight away, hence the three wk delay. When I said that seemed ridiculous the damage is unmissable, he then claimed his internet had been down all that time. This seemed odd as he used both a home and work email address - one of the world's biggest pharmaceutical companies. Told him, I did not believe his company's server was down for three weeks. He then accused me of using low res pictures to hide the damage....which was nonsense as this was back in the day when Ebay reduced the res of your original pics. And then said I had deliberately written my return address poorly so as not to accept returns.....which was also nonsense. He then opened a case and Ebay's policy is, so long as the buyer returns the item, they take your money and refund the buyer. So the watch came back to me in three pieces and a de-faced presentation box, and Ebay took my money. It took me several months pursuing Ebay about the ridiculousness of the case and their original decision, before they refunded me.
