Nigels gt30 s3

Still internal (Yes it's not ideal) but working with what I have it will all be changed next year. Was all working fine before

was the arm hanging up on anything? seen this before on stop mount centre mount t25 manifolds.. the actuator is in a very awkward position with the arm adjacent to the back of the rocker cover..
running direct actuator plumbed and seeing it it does the same thing boost wise, check function/consistency... If it is then control solenoid/plumbing to and from it next culprits to see/ swap out as required..

frustrating when these cars dont play nice. welcome to my world

Ah that's a shame Nige.

Have you got any pics of the setup? As Bill says the actuator on internal top mounts tends to cause real issues. Either snagging on something, or installed with the rod at a dodgy angle which will never function properly or consistently.

This is my setup, this is on my old turbo but set up is the same on new turbo. I have purchased a rebuild kit for the actuator see if that solves the problem if that's the case I will look into moving it over to the compressor side (conventional)

Thought I would add few snaps of the day :

Yes the strap wasn't ideal but said it was hard to get strap secure because of exhaust.

Carbon insert I made as I removed the armrest

The culprit for my boost problems ! The print that plate was shot to pieces, that seals to the bottom of the actuator so the pressure can build up and move the rod !

New o ring later and she is boosting really well

Cheers guys it's nice to hear comments like that. Poured everything I have into this moneypit lol

Well with good news comes bad news !

I made Another trip to emerald this time with rebuilt turbo, correct oil restrictor and a fixed actuator so I had boost and no smoke - excellent!

First pull on the dyno 496hp at 32psi awesome result until we realised we couldn't turn the boost DOWN ! It was spiking to 33 psi then dropping down to 30. My map sensor will only read to 2 bar so not ideal.

My unconventional actuator appears to not be working at all we removed from car pulled apart, pumped with air and the rod just doesn't move. Diaphragm is good spring is good seals are good it just won't move ! Then are fiddling with the dual port nipple we then lost boost and was only running a very very laggy 12 psi !

After this I decided to call it a day and finally sort out a conventional actuator setup. Which is going to be difficult as I am tight for space but I'm bored of trying to sort out this wierd actuator setup.

My setup is quite a laggy one still as the piper cams don't help spool but aid in power and the .82 hotside doesn't help but I'm not worried about a little lag. The rolling anti lag is unreal ! The car sounds ridiculous on full chat if I could find a way to upload videos that would be nice

I know it's laggy that's due to the cams and .82 hotside. I actually kinda like it though as it really gets down at about 4.5k.
That was the first pull so there's stuff to iron out make it a nice clean map I could go smaller hotside and standard cams but where's the fun in that ? Lol

Car looks fantastic mate

unless a car is 600 BHP - I dont see the point in posting stats. :D

pretty cool setup coming to maturity, I am loving the "Yep it is 500BHP, but only 500BHP we can't do less - nope it's on or off - 80BHP or 500BHP"?

what on earth will you do once this is sorted? you will need to continue or get another project otherwise you will go out your mind.. :)

Thanks goubo1

Stuart b - I'm happy to run it where ever it is safe, my tuner said once the boost issue is sorted he could probably get the same sort of power with less boost. I was only really expecting 440ish. I wanted a low boost map for some track action then full whack for the strip and road!
The car will stay the same for rest of the year so i can enjoy it and the start of next year I will be progressing on closer to the 600hp Mark

Its an addiction. And probably more expensive than a drug habit.

jeez.... sorry dude but thats a horrible narrow/late power delivery... so unnecessary .
external wg ftw any day at this level of turbo.

Yes badger it's not to everyones taste im working with the setup I have until next year for a complete new setup with a better selection of cams and turbo kit. I'm not worried about the lag I can manage it.

Pretty sure it kicks in a little bit harder then vtec

The comment is about the party starting as 5500 and finishing at 7500

Well finally got the stupid actuator setup sorted thanks to forge.

Very tight for space but it's in and SO FAR it works ! A lot of grinding and cutting on the bracket. So now to get back to emerald

well it seems the audi just wants to fight me all the way !

somehow my emerald ecu has managed to get flooded with water, which has corroded multiple parts in the ecu. not impressed one bit.

don't even know how it got in there, now need to send it away to have all the corroded parts rectified and returned in time for mapping next Friday.

hoping that it will cure the none sparking issue which is being put down to ecu only seeing 5v as everything else has been checked.

pretty sure if the car doesn't play ball she will be going lol

Yes it's under the scuttle tray but tucked right back, any water that got under the tray wouldn't even land on ecu and would drain straight off.

the problem is the 2 weeks it was parked up there was no rain lol I washed the car once and never aimed the jet wash near the ecu (even checked it after washing) emerald said the amount of water in it, the ecu would have needed to be submerged

well the car is finally complete. The water in the ecu caused a massive headache of problems from the car not starting at all to starting with no throttle and then wouldn't start unless I bridged the 2 wires on relay 428 !
John at emerald helped me the whole way through I would highly recommend him and emerald.

it was an extremely hot day to be tuning a car !!!

so the new actuator worked as it should I have low boost setting at wastegate about 15 psi (can't see it being used lol ) and high boost of 28 psi with all the extras. No lift shift, launch control and rolling anti lag ( my favourite )

it made 486 hp with a low torque of 360 lbft but the dyno reads slightly lower on torque I'm told. it also revs out to 8k which is new to me as seems scarily high to what I am use to but all components are these to run it at that level.

also double checked the water meth was ok to run, considering it was 30 degrees ambient air with the water meth running it knocked intake temps to high teens which is impressive.

overall really impressed with the car glad I didn't sell it (came very close quite a few times)

I know the graph isn't to everyone's taste so if you could refrain from slagging it off that would be great thanks. I am going to enjoy the car as it's been off the road for so long but start of next year I will be looking at a new setup for earlier spool but 500 + or maybe changeto smaller hotside and change cams aswell

also grabbed a load of carbon fiber to. First time I have ever owned carbon fiber lol there's a few more bits I need to get like carbon door bar things and rear bumper insert. whilst the front bumpers off I can cut some off as it has never fitted properly due to it hitting the hoses from intercooler.

looking forward to using the new shifter too

Did that little lot come from Andrew Grain by any chance?

Will be lovely on your car!

Is the splitter a plastic one that's been covered in carbon, or made from carbon entirely?
