Dyed the steering wheel with Gliptone ScuffMaster dye. There were a few places with missing color and some scratches. Gliptone mixed Soul Black dye according to their specs, however it was too black and shiny in comparison to the original Audi color. I bought extra white pigment and matte enhancer and added it to the dye. The color and shine/matte level is spot on. Pleased with the result.

Nice! Did you adapt what I presume was a single stage airbag to the steering?

It was the dual stage airbag, no adaptation was needed. I only re-pinned the multifunction wires to fit the A3.

Oil/filter service, mini exterior detail, replaced EGR valve ... yay ...no more warning light!

Cleaned it. Filled it up. Drove it. Filled it up. Cleaned it.
Also removed the armrest and fixed the broken catch and brutally ripped out the Audi phone prep system. Need to tidy it up a bit with a Dremel but that should be straight forward.
Booked it in to a mates garage to have the new clutch fitted next month and had to remove the remap due to the extra torque slipping the clutch.

@Daveyonthemove sorry to hear you had to brutal the phone prep out you should have said as i am sure i have pics off how i did it mate

Finally fitted the Ultras (still not sure the colour works with the silver but it’s growing on me):

And picked up a mint condition genuine RS3 grille. It will be sent for gloss black painting before fitting.

And bought into the V6 hype...

wheels look good to me sam, show of those calipers nicely :)

Just a thought
I was looking at a silver RS3 grill on ebay but i think its a bit much at £380 however i did notice its black on the back so the plastic is black and they apply the silver. Years ago this used to be an alloy coating and was easily removed with household bleach. might be worth just trying a small spot out of sight , even if you still spray it black, black on black will not show chips like black on silver.

@paddy, I might give this a go. It shouldn’t ruin the grille and besides, it may be painted any way.

I took the chrome bezel and the badges off last night so I have the grille to work with alone.

The price of the RS3 grille is like Wingbacks Seats - more ££ that they should be... FWIW I paid £230 inc delivery but it came with the plate holder and crash bar cover.

I’ll let you know how I get on.

Bleach shouldn't affect the plastic as it comes in plastic bottles.

Looking at the one on ebay its off a 2012 RS3...isnt that when the 8v came out ?

Is the OE RS3 grill much better than the X-UK one? I don't see any difference honestly.

X UK RS grille 2

I suppose original is a guarantee good fit but i don't know anyone who has fitted an X-UK to ask if it fitted spot on.

Looking at your pic and @samuelh_888 pic your combs look a lot tighter than the one's on @samuelh_888 so i would be sticking neck out to say your 1 is aftermarket . The quality off the original looks better made than X uk and for piece off mind people like to keep to original parts , but i guess if you can't afford the real deal the aftermarket ones do a good job says the guy who has an Aftermarket on his car.

Well i offered the guy on Ebay £300 cash and i would pick it up tomorrow and he turned me down....
I would really like one but i am not desperate, just thinking the fronts goty to come off to fit the Wagner IC and it would have been handy to do the grill at the same time.

Now I see that the combs are a little larger on the OE grille, I didn't pay attention to it before. However the quality of the X-UK stuff is very high and the price was higher than all other aftermarket options at the time of purchase. It doesn't look cheap-aftermarket in person. I paid £230 delivered to Denmark if I recall it correctly. It fits perfectly too, no issues at all.

To change the subject, this is my next upgrade: MSS Kits and two sets of 8 mm spacers - H&R for the front axle and ST DZ for the rear. Looking forward to installing it on Friday.

Should have kept my mouth shut, agreed a price for the grill and someone obviously saw the conversation here and gazumped me ...at least they paid through the nose for it anyway.

Lesson...don't let others know what you are doing on here.
