Tyre Wall Blister

Big wheels with low profile tyres unfit for Britain's broken roads .

Let's look at it another way, Britain's roads have been neglected for so long that they are "now" unsuitable for safe driving of "any" type of vehicle, motorised or not! Be it anything from a bicycle to a heavy goods vehicle that will enlarge and deepen the craters that already exist throwing up rubble from them, an example is the cast iron cats eye which is 8" long and about 4" wide that had been part lifted out of the road almost upright that I hit at 60mph.
When the roads do get some attention they are not being repaired the way that's acceptable, the holes left from where a cats eye was has been filled in, but the cats eye has not been replaced, this road where I took these pictures this morning 6.5.18 a number of people have been killed, safety is not their concern, only money is, and I am about to let them know this, I now have a name to direct this at from the email I received Friday attempting to make me out as dishonest and the road issue didn't exist, this fuels my desire to push forward my compensation

Quite a few different shades of road there! Obviously been 'repaired' a few times.

Good grief!
I'm amazed that the wheel is OK.

You can see where it pinched against the rim but thankfully the wheel is fine. She managed to hit another pothole last night on the near side front but thankfully the tyre survived!

Forgive me for going off subject but, please don't bow down to the "statutory" parking tickets or congestion charges, I fought a number of these with success, just keep "on top" of it.

We usually drive on the left of the road in this country now we drive on what's left of the roads!!!!.

This is shocking! Has somebody contacted Pirelli on this? Does Tyre insurance policies cover it because it isn’t a sudden deflation? If they do I’m getting one

Why what will they do ?

Come fill all the potholes in the uk

During the week I called into a public car park near Virginia Water and could not believe what happened, while turning to park my front dropped and I felt the bottom of my car hit the ground, I found my front bumper and engine sump had hit the ground, there was a crater big enough for both front to drop into and deep enough to ground my engine!!!

Since I was turning I was unable to see it.

Now I'm about to make another claim, for a new bumper and what ever else may be damaged.

No but do you see anybody with MPSS having this problem? :lmfao:

So you mean I can spend £650 to change to Michelin tyres and I can drive thru every pothole safe in the knowledge I’ll not damage my tyres.........

Other half must have hit a pothole too, but didn’t realise...

Youch !!! Glad you’re ok after that and no accident occurred as a result.

That's a good question, one answer may be that road users are being treated like mugs by these corporations, because that is what they are, they are doing business and are only interested in making as much money that they can get away with, high car tax, illegal parking charges, high toll charges, high fuel tax and a lot more, it's a massive money making racket not a service, every move they make is against the road users and not for them, if the road users don't do "exactly" as their told the corrupt system will come down on them like a ton of bricks, demanding money.
Just yesterday a work colleague told me he had to replace a tyre because it got damaged by a road creator, he paid over £100 to have it replaced and didn't get the tracking checked, and that was it, no intention to get reimbursement, it's people like that are making this possible for the racketeers to continue robbing the county.
There are a lot of people that aren't capable of following issues up, some afraid to, but the majority are able to, or condone them.

No but it indicates a weakness in the Pirelli’s for pot hole damage, this is one owners club and there have been quite a few now in as many months.

The tyres should be withstanding it, odd one or two maybe but not half of the owners on here.

Was looking for council information on the car park where my car was damaged in a trench to lodge a compensation claim and found this: https://www.getsurrey.co.uk/news/surrey-news/posts-installed-chobham-common-controversial-14581281

More restrictions, money grabbing and lies...

As can be seen the image on the web page of the entrance to the car park another pot hole, instead of repairing pothole issues their more interested in spend a fortune to install posts to prevent parking and force vehicles into the badly maintained car park and extract money from the public.
For those who can't afford these charges like pensioners who have paid tax all their lives these lovely places will be out of their reach.

You don’t know the size of potholes and the speed people are hitting them at though......

I’m pretty certain this forum represents only a fraction of UK RS3 ownership

It’s a bit difficult for any tyre, let alone a 30/35 series one to keep absorbing these sorts of impacts, also look at the Pirelli sidewall and how it’s angled back vs the practically 90 deg block sidewall of the Michelin tyre, I think this design, whilst offering good rim protection, doesn’t help much when driving on roads that look like the moons surface.........

These sort of tyres are designed for smooth roads, not to be continually bombarded by holes.

I joined the 'pot hole' club on Saturday, hitting one on the way out and one on the way back which has bubbled both fronts.
Nearside is worse and the offside has a penny sized blister.
The local tyre dude said they would fail an mot so need replacing so as I took out the insurance when I bought the car, I called them to see where I stand...
2 new tyres are to be fitted this Saturday plus tracking and balance check of the rears.
Result!

Not a pothole, but a ruddy bolt through my tyre. Do we think this is repairable where it is? It's a 255/30/20 that is like new, so I'm keen not to have to replace it!

Almost definitely...
There is a circular patch that has a long piece of rubber that is pulled through from the inside of the tyre, the patch is on the inside, best way that I know of, I would never use the type that pushes into the hole from the outside, it can come out and your back to where you were. https://ixquick-proxy.com/do/spg/sh...?set_id=2&sp=d1c831ff97a9de00c11a45e1a2fc4af0

Yep I’ve seen different tyres of the above plugs used before and make the tyre like new again... @Doc yours looks like it’s far enough away from the side wall so a repair should be a goer :icon thumright:

All sorted, Kwikfit did the job. £25 much easier to swallow than £225!

That’s true yes :) Just seems to be an issue with those on the P Zero RO2, maybe just me though.

Yes again true, just not an easy pill to swallow with near brand new tyres or worse when you have to change a pair.. any unexpected expense is an unwelcome one.

The UK roads are appalling. They are resurfacing a stretch of the M4 at the moment and it’s rippled like waves, the resurfacing is worse than the surface was before... why can’t anhthing be build / done properly these days! My 4 month old Karcher packed in the other day, my 10 year old one worked perfect after being sat for that length of time... things just aren’t built the same.

The whole of the UK needs resurfacing from top to bottom.
