Hi, got a recall from Audi suggesting that the supplementary heater needs to be replaced as it can lead to smoulder damage or even fire. Anyone else got this recall? Inconvenient as it is, sounds pretty important.

Plenty of cars recalled so far, as i know. a4/ a5 and q5 only i think. Basicly the el. heater is replaced and basic setting redone with odis. Some have a climatronic (08) update aswell.

Cheers

Yes got this letter also, Audi A4 B8.5.

Has anyone got it done yet? I recived a letter also for my B8.5 They need the car for half a day thats fair enough.

If its removel of the dash followed by usual rattle galore i will be annoyed.

I had a similar type job done before on another car, It was never right afterwards.

Mines booked in for the 26th. If it comes back with any rattles I'll be kicking off.

The dash is not removed. Its basicly the passenger compartment and a few minor plastics to access the el. heater( sry but dunno the eng words for it). Its a pretty straightforward job so shouldnt be any issues with squeeks/rattles etc.

Had mine done yesterday. Driven about 25 miles since without any rattles or strange noises :)

Thats good news. They must be able to access the heater via the glove box so.

Had mine done yesterday. Told them "dont wash it or hoover it out thanks"
Access from glove box as mentioned before.
Seems fine no creaks.

Asked why its getting done? "some of the elements are burning out, once don't it won't be an issue anymore"

Certainly won't be an issue they'd left it turned off.

Well mines in today (2014 2.0 TDi Quattro) being done right now along with an MOT.

After reading a few horror stories I told them its had a remap an not to do the diesel gate software update & they seemed fine with not having to do it.

Need to book mine in for this just had mine mapped but had the emission updates resorted back before it was mapped running loads better in old software, they need not to update mine or won’t be happy

So dose map cancel out crap software update if you get it mapped afterwards ?

No the tuning coming put my car back to old software then mapped it on that software version

You could just get someone put the software back for you if you didn’t want it mapped as well,

I tried having it mapped while the software was on but the fuel economy was awful

So... they couldnt do the heater element repair because a non genuine hands free kit (BURY hands free charger cradle) had been fitted to my car!

Because of non genuine wiring looms in the vicinity of the heating system, there unable to carry out the fix.

So todays job... remove it all. Aerial up in the head liner, stereo out, glovebox out yadda yadda yadda....
