At the weekend I bought a 2013 A5 2.0 TDI S Line Black Edition 175bhp, and I'm very much enjoying getting used to the MMI (it's the 3G with the joystick on the centre button) and how everything works, as well as the power and the S Tronic gearbox. As part of getting everything up and running I've searched and I've been reading that it should be possible to get the MMI connected to by Samsung Galaxy S8+ via bluetooth and using it as a data connection to enable Google Maps and Audi Connect.

I've got VCDS and I've already applied some mods and enabled the green menu on the MMI - and I followed the instructions on a thread on here to enable using rSAP to connect to the phone. I've connected the phone to via bluetooth and in settings it has connected to the phone for music streaming and headset, but it won't connect using the top menu option which is 'Car Phone'. Whenever I try to connect as Car Phone it just says 'Connection failed'.

I was under the impression that my Samsung Galaxy S8+ would be compatible with rSAP without rooting my phone? Do I need to root it to enable this?

Any help will be much appreciated.

What I really want to do here is connect via my phone's bluetooth and be able to use google maps through my phones data connection, shared with the car. Also to stream internet radio etc. If I could also use the Audi Connect services that would be a bonus.

Edit: Just to be clear the version I have is the one without the Sim card slot in the middle of the 2 x SD card slots on the dash.

Hi

The dealer connected my s7 with no problems A5 2015. But you can only play from phone the mmi will not search your phone for tracks etc then play. so you have to select the track you want on phone and select play on phone for it to play and show track on mmi. Not worth it. You might be able to save to Jukebox via phone and save your tracks but probably one at a time.
It will pick up your phone contacts and save for hands free.
I have logged onto My Audi.com and registered but cannot send maps to car as it states my car is not compatible. I have same as you no sim slot. Also cant register as a connect key user as I don't have the scratch off pin code with the key and Audi said its only for 2018 cars :-(
If you get anymore info please post so I can read.

Managed to get the phone to connect via MMI today. Have to go to Wi-FI connections and select The audi car wifi selection.
Didn't have time to play with it to see what it could do had to go out in a hurry :-( and car is booked into Audi tomorrow for work. Will post back later when Ive had time to play. Did try with the ami cable in car but it only connects via usb and I couldn't get it to do anything Bluetooth didn't already do.

I'd be interested if you can use google maps through that connection or not.
