Hi,

A weird thing happened which fortunately nobody was hurt and no damage caused but when I parked at shop (Luckily there was a space just outside the door) my parking break did not apply and the car rolled forward and hit the barrier, thankfully slowly and the bollard had a cardboard sign on it.

Surely the parking break should come on when the car is switched off?

I have since been double checking that the green and hen red break light come on before getting out and even then giving it a little push!

Do you think I should get Audi to check it? Or was it just me relying on the car to do too much!

Its a manual, not sure if that makes a difference...

Thanks

Mines an auto and it does not come on automatically although it does put the car into park in the gearbox when you switch off the engine.

Yes into park, however the parking brake will randomly come on automatically it seems. Mine does as do others...

Thanks I will have to start remembering to press the button every time. Maybe its happened before but I wasn't on slope..

You could use OBDEleven to change this setting and the parking brake will come on every time when you press the start/stop button:

I haven’t ever seen this one before, and I've always wanted the parking brake to set automatically when I turn off the car. It seems to require a security code, but I just tried the first one in the list of suggestions (40xxx, I think. Don't remember exactly). It worked when I turned my B9 S5 off from accessory mode, so I'm hopeful. Thanks for the pointer!

I'm VERY eager to get this working on my B9 S4 - but have tried the above (using OBDeleven) and when I select the "Automatic Parking Brake" adaptation it simply says "Not available" (where there should be options to turn on or off I assume). I used the 40168 security code, which was accepted.

Any ideas anyone?

My s4 will auto put the parking brake on if the hill hold assist has been activated when stopped then the ignition turned off.

It doesn’t if car is stopped without the hill hold being activated.

I usually turn the car on in accessory mode (engine is still off) and make sure that the doors are closed before coding, otherwise I end up with weird stuff like that. There also may be differences between trim levels (mine is a Prestige in the US market).

Just tried it again - and can't get anything other than "Function not available" - Has anyone with an EU/UK spec B9 S4 managed to perform this adaptation with OBDeleven (or anything else)????

(Would "Function not available" appear if the security login code was incorrect? [Though OBDelevem reports that it logs in OK])

Yes it worked on my B9 S4. I’ve got HHA if that makes any difference.

Not sure about the message and whether that relates to the security code.
