Air con recharge price increase

If your thinking of getting your air con recharge be prepared for a 5 fold price increase, talking to my mate who owns a garage today about doing mine, last year he was paying about £70 for a 12kg container of R134A .
This year it's over £400, it's down to the government putting a levy on the gas.
 
You may want to try your dealer. Mine (Belfast Audi) mailed last week with an offer on aircon regas at half price - working out at £40 which I thought was a good price from a dealer as all the local garages round here are charging £40-50 anyway.

Well I think that the manufacture of R134A was officially stopped some years ago, though some will be getting brought in from slightly lesser developed/evolved regions of the world, so that just leaves "scrubbing up" used R134A and remaining stocks of virgin R134A and like everything else, as stocks reduce, if demand does not reduce quicker, prices just keep rising. It is a very effective way to reduce and then remove the need for R134A.
