Hi All,

Looking to upgrade from the current 288mm fronts on my B6 sport - I believe I can use B8 S4 calipers with B7 S4 345mm discs - can someone confirm if I am correct please?

Also with regard to the stone/dust guards - do I need to upgrade these to S4 versions also or can I run without them?

For brake hoses I'm pretty sure that the B8 version will fit but maybe a little long?

Any other advise please? My main reason for changing is the pads are knocking when applying the brakes, two set's of pads now and new calipers and the problem is still there, I'm told using genuine pads should resolve it but it's driving me mad.

Thanks

Thanks, that’s the other issue if it’s not the cheap pads.

Can anyone answer the questions on S4 upgrade?

Thanks

Do you actually want to solve the problem of knocking pads or do a brake upgrade? A brake upgrade is a very expensive way of solving a knock. I would change the pads to genuine first they are not that expensive.

I did the B8 S4 upgrade on the front and to be honest I wish I had done it sooner! I thought the standard 1.8T brakes were pretty shocking. You will need

B8 S4 calipers
B8 S4 pads
B8 S4 braided lines
B6/B7 S4 345mm discs

The B8 lines are a little bit long but if you type in HEL braided lines in on eBay there is a company that will make them up for you so they will not be too long :icon thumright: with regards to the dust shields you can just trim the lip off your existing ones, or if your want to do it properly then you’ll need B6/B7 S4 ones

Agreed but I find the 288’s a little weak after some spirited driving, both my B6’s have had pad knock, the first I swapped to original pads and it went away for a while but came back when pads where about half worn. Think carriers maybe worn so upgrade is best option and will look better behind my 19’s!

Perfect thanks for the info, calipers have the B8 hoses fitted so i’ll Run those for now and i’ll Add the S4 dust shields at a later date. My wife works at local Audi dealer so can get parts for a reasonable price.

Bit off topic but the biggest improvement to braking I had was lightweight wheels and sportier tyres (and I upgraded to 320mm front, 288mm rear, drilled/grooved discs, braided brake lines, racing fluid, Brembo pads and probably more braking bits I've forgotten).

I’m running 19inch speedlines with Continental tyres. Interested to hear how you upgraded the rears? I’d like larger rear brakes to match the front. I’ve got some mk4 golf anniversary rears, wonder if they would fit?

Whilst we are asking about what fits, how about the S3/R32/Leon Cupra brakes? I have a "spare" rear set sitting here, from my Edition 30 days, and loved the S3 brakes up front on it too. And that setup can be found reasonably priced. Any chance they would fit my B6 3.0?

Probably about double the weight of my 17's :playful: my brakes (front and rear) are basically nicked off a b7 2.0t Special Edition (also on some 3.0tdi's and others).

おそらく、私の17番:遊び心:ブレイキ(前部と後部)の重さの約2倍が、基本的にb7 2.0tスペシャル・エディション(3.0tdiのものと他のものの一部)から打ち切られていると思えます。[/見積もり]

Yeah upgrade to A4 B7's caliper
