Ok so I am about to make the move from my A4 Avant to an A6 Avant. I know you guys will hate me but fancy something bigger and luxurious and more space for my growing pack or labradors

Question is do I plump for a 2.0 ultra with 190bhp or go for the daddy 3.0 bitdi???

Bare in mind I drive a 2.7 V6 remapped A4 Avant with probably around 230bhp.
I'm thinking the 2.0 A6 Avant is going to feel slow and sluggish.

I can get a facelift 15 plate 2.0 black edition A6 within my budget.
Or a 2013 plate bitdi with sports diff!!!!
I know which I want but my sensible head says get the newer car!

I'm so stuck. I only drive the a car couple of days a week (cyclist sorry lol)
So mpg is not a major issue.

Any opinion, advice, experience will be greatly helpful.

Thanks people
Paul

I don't know how much miles the 2 cars have but if I was in your place I would go for the 2013 v6 30 bitdi

The 2013 bitdi has 50k and the 2.0 2015 car has 40k so the main difference is the facelift newer car versus the slightly older but much faster car!

Faster car can be slow if you want but slower car cannot be faster Why you don't go for an A4 b8.5 30 tdi or an s4?

I’ll concur with the above, the 3.0 BiTdi has got to be the way ! You’ll only be left thinking and wondering, what would the big 6 have been, like if you decided on the 2.0 ????
In all honesty, I’d drive both and that should help to make your decision based on how they live up to your expectations.

Cheers mate love getting a new car but hate buying used cars. Second hand car salesmen cannot be trusted lol
The car I'm drawn to is in Surrey so a canny drive but it's the best one I've seen so far.

I have the 3.0 BiTDi Avant and love it......when it isn't in the garage!
Just been given a brand new A7 sportback with the 3.0 TDi engine as a courtesy and I must say power is dismal......not only that it sounds like a tractor!
Amazing what those turbos do in the BiTDi!

Gearbox malfunctions, parking brake malfunctions errors, start/stop system faults. Expensive GPS module replacement. Faulty hands-free unit. Keys not being recognised. Having the gearbox oil changed which may help with the clunking and slipping.
So yeah, maybe I've been unlucky  under Audi warranty so isn't costing me anything apart from fuel and time.

I moved from a 3.2l V6 A4 B8 Avant. I don't think I'll be going back to the A4 series now - A6/A7's are so much nicer in my opinion, especially the interiors.

How many miles do you have on the car? The tiptronic boxes are usually bullet proof :wtf:

Have you actually checked the difference in boot space between a4 and A6 avant? It is only about 50 litres bigger which is not much! I have an S4 avant and two dogs German Shepherd and Labrador and they fit fine. Check out the Golf r estate as it has a 600 litre boot which is bigger than the A6!

It has done 49/50k and on a 2014 plate. Clunking and slipping shortly after purchase, Audi reset it, few weeks later "gearbox malfunction" on dash. I'm struggling with Audi to recognize the fault. Issue is, they say it's sealed - whereas ZF say it has a service schedule!

Makes quite a difference - same height I think, but compared to my old A4 the A6 boot feels a lot bigger. Couldn't fit the pooch crate in the A4 - easily fits in the A6. Having just said that, the boot on the A7 I have at the moment looks huge :tearsofjoy:

Seriously check out the Golf r estate, I nearly bought new but could not wait as the delivery time was to long

Why is this even a question? :D

Definitely go for the slightly older Bi Tdi without a shadow of a doubt!

FYI, I drive an 08 3.0 TDI and recently drove a 2015 A6 Ultra 190 S Tronic. Lovely gearbox but the car felt absolutely breathless on the motorway.

It literally felt like it had 109Bhp not 190Bhp ... and Front wheel drive was just horrible after having gotten used to Quattro.

Once you get used to the power, sound and feel of a larger engined V6 TDI, going back down to a smaller 4 cylinder TDI will feel like torture . .. not matter how nice the rest of the car is.

Put it this way, you will Not regret going for the BiTDI ... but there is aquite a strong change that you will regret going for the 190 Ultra.

Tbh i just sold my 65plate a6 2litre ultra and jumped straight in an s4. It was a pain topping up ad blue .. particulate filter on every other week .. not enough power having an a7 3litre Quattro and s3 previously, the biggest thing i missed was Quattro and speed. ..

Exact position i found myself in having bought 2.0 ultra, jumping back into s4 was like waking up out of a nightmare
