I posted a while back I was looking to replace my rear diffuser as personally I wasn't a big fan of the grey/black OEM look. Please see below for original OEM diffuser.

Fullsizeoutput a84

I posted a couple of times on the forum asking what was out there and a mate of mine noticed Rieger do rear diffusers whilst looking for a front splitter.
After investigating S3 8V diffusers for a few weeks I thought to myself, yep that is the one!

I proceeded down the route of contacting Jeff from Body-kits.co.uk, who is a pleasant man, relatively quick to respond to any questions and helped me find the correct rear diffuser for an S3 8V Sportback with OEM tailpipes.
Link below: http://www.body-kit.co.uk/product.php/15279/3281/audi-a3-s3-8v-12-16-rear-diffuser-abs-black
For £200 inc vat and delivery.

It took around 10 days to arrive from Germany. I believe Body-kits import them are the main UK distributer for all Rieger parts.

Finally when it arrived I asked the same mate to help me fit this...
Here's where the fun started. NO videos on youtube to that advise how to take a rear diffuser off an 8V.
No instructions came with the diffuser. So after attempting to unclip the OEM diffuser and practically hanging off the bumper and it not budging (in freezing cold conditions) we accepted defeat for that day.

A couple of weeks later, with a Rieger sat in my garage I thought I need this on and quickly. Living in the midlands and looking around I contacted Chris from Complete Car Cosmetics in Derby.
I have to say my experience with Chris is he is a honest and a pleasure to do business with. He receives top feedback every time and I had first hand experience as to why that is.

As expected, Chris contacted me to say the bumper has to come off, the clips are just not giving way and needs to remove this. (Probably told me this due to an hours labour charge).

Chris rang me to tell me once the bumper had been taken off and tried to refit, the clips do not match up perfectly with the bumper. They then had to modify the diffuser slightly to fit it to the bumper.
I need to add for your awareness, when comparing the rieger to the OEM, there are no clips on the bottom of the reiger as there are on the OEM. They leave little hole which I assume should have little tac screws or something to hold onto. This did not come with the diffuser.

The diffuser also does not fit flush to the bumper. Unnoticeable when looking at it stood up, and even slightly when on your knees, but there is for sure a very slight gap.

However, below is the end result and finally fitted.

I have to say I am very very happy.
However, to fit the Rieger it did cost £120

So all in all, £320 to buy and fit.

Happy to share more photos if required. In person it looks the dogs b4lls!!!! I am very happy with it.

Hope you find this useful.
Like I say if you go down the Rieger route you will need:

- Take the bumper off
- The fit won't be flush
- No fittings come with the Rieger
- Have a lot of patience
- If like me, spend a lot of money to get it fitted.

That looks really good. I’m thinking of doing the same if it comes in saloon fitment.

I also fitted this to my S3 a few weeks ago, but managed it without taking the bumper off. I cant say it was fun, but the results are well worth it.

Well done sir, looks great!

Did you order the right diffuser from Rieger to accommodate the larger Milltek tips?

Any chance you could post a pic of it face on like my one above, just so I can see the spacing around the OEM exhaust tips? Mines a little tight...

Hi Boydski, I’ve been in touch with Steve Pound the CEO of Milltek, I shared with him a photo of the OEM tips and the milltek, he responded stating if the originals fit the Milltek will fit.
Now like you, mine is a tight fit so I’m not convinced! However, I’ve tee’d The guy who fitted this up to modify it if required to ensure the Milltek will fit. Soon as I get the Milltek (4 week rough timescale to get this as out of stock) I’ll let you know.

Will take a photo this weekend for you the same as yours. Decent product though eh?!!

Thanks man, I only ask as one side of the diffuser is slightly touching the tips on one side. Although this has more to do with my fitting than the product itself.

Its a stunning product, despite being a bit daunted when I first opened the box! It completely finishes the car off and looks aggressive without losing any of the existing overall style, especially if you have the black styling pack as the OEM diffuser remains that horrible grey plastic.

Since my fit I've added the Maxton splitter which I can highly recommend. Both front and rear end now have a bit of presence about them. I'll grab some pics of it over the weekend and see if it tempts you?!

I thought you took the bumper off yourself in the end! Well it was a good read and glad you got it. I dfont know if i want to go through the rigerole of getting a body work guy to do this for me and wondering if i can do it myself with a lot of patients.....

Reason I took it to a body shop mate was mainly down to the weather, with it being freezing outside the clips weren’t flexing at all. You could do it yourself like Boydski has done,I just wanted it on and with the snow we’ve had didn’t want to wait till it’s warmer.
You’d defo be able to do it yourself .

Yeah totally agree, don’t like the grey/Black OEM diffuser, was thinking about taking it off and spraying gloss black but having seen the rieger and the fins had to be done.

I have been looking at the rieger front splitter, I think it’s a very subtle splitter. Tempted to go down the rieger route for that as well.

As promised here’s some photos from the back, not sure if it helps?

Netz_ Your car looks brilliant with the new kit .
Can I suggest you contact Reiger and the supplier and tell them about the problems you had and they may be able to make adjustments for future purchasers to help with fitting and may send you something for your trouble , maybe not though .

Thanks Pinky!
Yep on my list to do, totally agree does need adjusting and instructions provided. Was disappointed it came with no fixings either for the holes underneath.

Im also interested in this diffuser. I have Milltek exhaust with 100mm tips. Do you think they fit?

I contacted the CEO of miltek believe it or not, guys called Steve Pound, he says if the OEM’s fit the miltek will. So clearly I’ve saved that email in the event it don’t fit and I can then go back to him and say “your approved garage going to sort this now then Steve?”

Looks like it comes with instructions now

Just emailed Rieger, just to see delivery costs. From them it's £135 at the moment.
https://www.rieger-tuning.biz/article/00056805+12440688

I ordered mine direct from Rieger and it came a lot sooner than predicted direct from Germany. Body Kit UK bumped their prices up by about £15 quid or so shortly before I was going to order from them, so even with postage from the EU I still saved a couple of quid.

When you registered with them did you notice that the UK in the drop down list is 'Create Britian'

@Nelz-S3 , any chance you have the exhaust openings dimensions. Just received an email saying that they can't guarentee that a milltek with the quad 100mm titanium tips will fit the openings without some modification. Hope you can accommodate my request mate.

Just measured, exactly 210mm width. May need some modification but will be worth it to have both

Excellent mate. The milltek tips are 210mm in total so might need a bit of modifying.

I recently install a CF diffuser on my US spec'd S3 and that too, was not a fun/easy task. I was able to unclip the bottom and side areas. However, the clips holding the upper diffuser section to the bumper were very stubborn to pull off. I ended up having to use a fair amount of pulling force and snapped the silver trim of the OEM diffuser in half. It finally came off.

The new CF diffuser went on without major complications, but I will say, CF generally does not have much "give" compared to plastic. Fitment was about 95% accurate compared to the OEM diffuser.

I'm going down the bumper off method. See if it makes it 3% easier. Fingers crossed.

Good choice, the Maxton splitter is sexy! All that gloss black trim is going look awesome against your bright green, please put some pics up once it's all done!

I agree, the small trim piece above the OEM diffuser was a pain. I found if you undo the numerous torx screws it should come off first, giving you more leverage over the diffuser alone. Trying to take them both off together was getting too close to snapping something.

Well it arrived. Just gotta fit it now and hope it fits with the milltek.

Niiiiice, did you get instructions and fittings? and more importantly a 2 year calendar with various ladies showcasing super cars wearing too much clothing?
I'll let you know when I get home mate.

Got a bit of an issue. The fit of the Rieger diffuser lower portion looks totally different to the OE fitment. How do you attach the Rieger diffuser lower portion to the original bumper?

This is what I got this morning from the supplier.

thats a bit of a shame with support.

Did you take any pictures of the fitment issue to identify or warn others who would be interested in buying this?

Hi mate.

From what I remember the bottom of the rieger diffuser has a few fins along the bottom and top edge. You need to drill holes through these fins, then mark a dot where the holes meet the existing bumper section on your car. The supplied screws will then fix it in place. Obviously make sure that the hole diameter isn’t larger than the screws.

I’ll try and take a couple of pics under my car for you later today.
