Hi all, anyone, especially those with shiny ‘18 plates here in the U.K., collected their new A5/S5s recently and want to share pictures and first impressions?

I was meant to collect mine this afternoon but have had to postpone until Tuesday because of the snow - in some ways quite glad as the last thing I’d want is to crash it on the way home!

Collected mine yesterday! In Kent so had it fairly bad. Started snowing whilst in the dealers....

As long as you made it home safe and sound! What did you get? Any pics?

Picked mine up yesterday afternoon, we seem to have been let off this weather relatively lightly in Leeds! Absolutely over the moon with it - been waiting since end of oct so had forgotten how nice it was!

I ordered mine end of August. Was in the UK by December but I needed to get rid of my BMW by VTing at the end of Feb first. It’s been a very long 6 months!

Lovely looking car, I had a similar colour ‘Ink Black’ (on a Fiat Stilo Abarth about 15 years ago) and really liked it.

Although, along with black, there’s nothing that looks so good clean, but so dirty so quickly - especially with all the grit and crap that snow brings.

I’ve already got some Poorboys Black Hole Glaze and Natty’s Paste Wax for the first weekend I get once I collect mine (Mythos Black).

Exactly the problem I'm having right now - it looks like it's been driving on gritted roads for weeks! Love the way it looks black from one angle and blue from another depending on how the light hits it. The dealer threw in autoglym lifeshine so hopefully it will return to its former glory once I get a chance to give it a wash.

Very nice mate :) Poorboys black hole will be your friend for that colour!!! http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/glazes/poorboys-black-hole/prod_494.html I've read that some people also use it on Piano black trims to hide any light scratches. Always wipe those with a damp microfibre rather than a dry one! Have a look online for tips as the piano black scratches and swirls very easily.

This is black hole on the black S3 I had, topped with Farecla G3 super gloss paste wax, it's so easy on/off.

Cheers, I'll get some on order, it won't affect the warranty on the lifeshine the dealer applied will it?

I can imagine the piano black being a nightmare - the mrs already has to remove any jackets etc when getting in! I'm hoping just taking care and keeping on top of it will do the trick, maybe some compressed air to remove the dust before wiping.

Very nice pics, that shine is unbelievable!

lol I've got my wife is well trained as well! any coat or bag with zips, buckles etc and she is super careful getting in and out ;)

I wouldn't worry too much about the lifeshine mate, do a Google and you will see what I mean ;) or just look on here (YOU GOT IT FREE) so don't be to upset lol http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/thoughts-about-autoglym-lifeshine.225359/

Yeah I discovered today whilst giving the car a quick hose down to remove the worst of the salt/dirt that I'm not certain it's been applied properly, the water beads off really well in certain areas and sticks to the car in others (coincidentally the worst areas for dirt, rear bumper, wheel arches etc). I'll definitely get some of that poor boys black hole on order asap.

Any other tips for protecting/cleaning?

Picked up mine this evening an hour before work!

First impressions car looks awesome under fading light and under torch light looks purple at certain angles!

Even though I instructed the dealer not to do anything to the car they went with my original order and did apply GuardX!
Not particularly impressed by this, but as it was error on sales side they gave me the full amount back so a further £625 off the price plus got the products applied and the maintenance kit.
Will give the car a good look over in the morning to ensure it has been done properly but now I'm in 2 minds if I am going to get the car professionally detailed and ceramic coated or not.
Pictures to follow

The poorboys is just a filler to hide scratches/swirls etc. you will need a wax on top of it to make it last longer. Use this forum on here for loads of advice http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/forums/detailing.116/

I collected my A5 at the end of October, no proper wax applied yet as it's been to wet/cold!!! Apart from a wash/wax that you mix with water and a bucket the only other thing I've used is bilt and hamber snow foam and then coated it with Hydro20 lite which works well... I made a post at the time http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/bilt-hamber-auto-foam-snow-foam.351134/#post-3159870

Proof it's not worth what they say it is!
Sucks I'm working nights so can't have a proper look at it.
I'm sure they have put swirls in it but not had the right lighting to check it!
They will know about it if they have as I told the sales bloke that's why I didn't want it done!

Very nice, the scuba blue is a gorgeous colour!

S32B, thanks for the advice I’ve spent the last couple of days researching detailing and think I’m slowly starting to build a picture of how to take care of it! Previously I’ve always just used the bucket and sponge method (or taking it to the local hand wash place) as I’ve never really owned a car I’ve given this much of a damn about!

I told both the sales girl and the finance manager that I didn't want it washed in any way at all, told them just to take the sticky plastic sheets off ;)

Use your mobile phones torch to look for the swirls, that tends to show them up well....if there!

Gasp at the bucket and sponge and then a bigger gasp at the hand carwash :D

Hope it wasn't at this one lol:

Hi guys just thought I'd share this with you:

I'd mentioned Bilt and Hamber in a post further up the page. Well today I tried another way of using it! I hadn't washed the car for a few weeks before we had all the snow, ice and rain!!! so you can imagine the state of it? I didn't want to snow foam it as it takes ages to clear from the road and I didn't want to hand wash it as it's still cold :cold: So I put 80ml of B&H into one of these https://www.screwfix.com/p/green-pressure-sprayer-7ltr/51100 bargain for £7.99 (I paid £9.99 last month!) and then topped it up to 2lts with hot water. I sprayed it all over the car and left it for 5 mins, then just jet washed it off and left it to drip dry, if you look very closely you still see a light layer of dust on the car, but it's the best stuff for a touch free wash I've ever used!

The B&H is about £17 for 5 litres, so using 80ml per wash will get you 62 washes, so £17/62 = 27p per wash!

As you can see it works well:

Picked up my 18 plate S5 at midnight on the 1st March from my local Audi garage who opened up just for me. The snow was lashing down and the motorways were all closed but there was no way I was going to miss out because of the snow!

I took a few options but nothing too expensive, I chose metallic glacier white paint, light and vision pack which includes the virtual dials, matrix led headlights, dynamic front indicators and multi colour LED interior lights, flat bottomed steering wheel, red leather seats, tinted Windows, hill hold assist and red brake callipers. I would definitely recommend the light and vision pack, the virtual dials are fantastic and the Matrix LED lights are out of this world! I've never seen anything like them and they work so well!

I've tried to upload some pics but its saying 2mb maximum, all my photos are 6mb minimum so no chance of getting them on.

I'l try and get them reduced in size tomorrow and get them on.

Think I've got them sorted, here goes...

Red interior looks amazing, stitching on Door trims and steering wheel is the finishing touch.

Picked mine up on 6th March and got round to doing a no touch clean this morning (daughter is off with tonsillitis so she sat inside and watched) just to remove the salt and grit it’d picked up over the last fortnight. Bilt Hamber Auto-Wheel and AutoBrite Magifoam and 20 minutes with a Nilfisk Foam Lance and it’s nice and sparkly (sort of!) again!

Will do a full wash and detail over Easter!
